This game needs to be won by at least 2 scores. We need to have momentum going into the MAC scheduled. The league has no frontrunner, which means we have a chance in every game, in my opinion. But on the flipside, we could also lose every game :)

Oh, for goodness sake. Every week, every press conference you criticize the message and messenger style. Do yourself a favor and skip the pressers going forward so you can enjoy life a bit more.
That’s the option I’ve chosen. Listening to him makes my ears hurt.
You need to head over to the Fordham fan site. They rave about how well Albin represents the university in pressers, depth of his answers, respect for opponent, etc.

I was impressed when he was asked a question by a young (student) reporter and made a point of getting the kid's full name.

I think he's very likeable. Just hope he can start to have some success.
Agreed. It may not be the smoothest or prettiest in a press conference but I can see his passion and enthusiasm.

Both seem high to me. It is interesting that they've begun putting lines on these FCS opponents, they didn't used to.

What they're saying is that Ohio should win something like 46-27, which would be okay with me. But yes, the spread seems a little high, although the O/U might actually be a little low. Fordham is averaging almost 50 pts and 500+ yds a game on offense (albeit against 1AA teams that are 1-8 combined), while our D is giving up 40+ pts a game, although against better competition. Still, given the issues we've had on defense the first three games, Fordham could easily put up 35+ pts against us. We should score plenty ourselves; Fordham is giving up 42 pts and right at 500 yds a game. They're giving up an average of 193 rushing yds a game, so we should get at least 250 -- 300 isn't out of the question. If that happens, we could score in the 50s. Given what we did against FAU, we should get at least 40. We can't afford turnovers and mental mistakes, we need to get good field position to start drives, and we need to tackle better.

After two beat downs vs simply superior talent, I'm interested in the attitude and demeanor of the team. Hopefully we come out pumped up, in full attack mode, and don't let up.

Parents weekend is always a strange crowd -- big but a bit subdued. Will be interesting to see the attendance.

Just learned something interesting on the Fordham board. Last year their payday game was against Nebraska. They were thoroughly waxed in that game by a score of 52-7. Somehow, we can't escape these Nebraska connections as we prepare for Frank Solich Day at Peden Stadium. Go OHIO beat Fordham!

Lot more people and money being bet (legally) on college football now. With the explosion in legal online sports betting, it’s not surprising to me that various sports books are (in part) competing by offering bets on all FBS games, even when the opponent is FCS

I expect a W on Sat.
I would also like to see major improvement on the special teams.
It's always easier to assess special teams then the O or D.

I'd like to see Ohio average the 25 yard line when returning kickoffs, and average 37 yards net punting. Those aren't great, but won't cost games. So far:

vs FAU: Avg after kickoff=20.6 yard line, Net punting=32.8 yards
vs PSU: Avg after kickoff=21.9 yard line, Net punting=29.5 yards
vs ISU: Avg after kickoff=26.3 yard line, Net punting=31.7 yards

Since the kicking team will occasionally put one out of bounds, you'd average a bit over 25 that way, but you exactly get my point.

Question, can you FC/down a bouncing squib and still take the 25?

Win this game and we'll be right where most of us hoped we'd be after non-con play. I'd love to see our team come out aggressive and put the foot down early. Don't let them hang around.

What would be a greater Bobcat victory tomorrow? Ohio football beating Fordham? Or 6-8 hoops prospect Jalen Carey giving Coach Boals a commitment before heading back to Florida?

Carey commitment would be awesome.

Both great victories though!

As I said in another thread, I think that the odds of him being fired midseason are almost nil. If I recall the details of the odd contract that was posted last year if he gets fired midseason Ohio would owe him a two year buyout. If we were to fire him after the season the Ohio owes him next to nothing. So if we happened to be 2-8 then the last two games would probably be the Tim Albin walking dead farewell tour.

If we win today then, IMO, Albin off to a pretty good start after four games.

Albin is rebuilding something that badly needed to be rebuilt. Give him time.

I don't think Albin will succeed long term, but I totally agree with this sentiment. Nathan Rourke's performance in the CFL has made me think that he distracted everyone from the decline of the program. This is particularly true regarding the defense post Blair Brown/Quentin Poling. Albin got thrown into a tough situation last year. It does not seem like he is a turnaround guy, but I am encouraged by his ability to replace the coordinators with decent alternatives within a short period. Recruiting ability? That may be another story.

A few telling stats:

We're third in D1A in kickoff return yds -- 298
But we're 92nd in kickoff return average -- 18.38
That's because we lead the subdivision in kickoff returns -- 16 (5.3 per game)

It shows (A) we don't do a very good job on kickoff returns, and (B) we have too many kickoff returns per game. Keep the other team from scoring so much and we don't have to worry about kickoff returns.
