Well through 3 games we've given up the 3rd most passing yards in all FBS, only Arkansas and Bowling Green have given up more.

Fordham likes to sling it around with over 385 passing yards in each game this year. Their starting QB has thrown for 1,300 yards already with 16 TDs and only 3 INTs. This one should be interesting. Let's hope our secondary is ready.

I'd like to think we can put a lot of pressure on the QB and force him into some bad throws but we shall see.

It also appears the Fordham defense gives up a ton of points, over 30ppg in each so far.

Look for them to be in the top 20 of the FCS Coaches Poll. They were 21st last week and #19 ETSU lost to unranked Furman this weekend.

We're the only team from our subdivision on their schedule this year, so this is their big chance to make some noise.

Ohio has to treat this like THE game of the year. Fordham's a good 1AA team and can easily jump up and bite us. Lose this one and it could easily be a repeat of last season.

It is the game of the year for Albin….if we lose the rest of the year might be Albins Leaving Athens Tour.

If I'm Albin, I have the team practice an off the wall two point conversion play. Something that you'd see on Sportscenter top 10 plays.

Then tell the team that we're getting the ball first, marching down the field for a TD then going for two running this play for an 8-0 lead. Then never look back.

Sadly, we'll probably go 3-and-out and be lucky to eek out a W.

Against Duquesne last year we took a 13-0 lead and never looked back. Unfortunately, we didn't see Duquesne coming up from behind and didn't notice them til they went zooming past us.

At the start of the season I never expected us to win these last 2 games.
I did state that we should be able to record a 2-2 record after the OOC games.
Now I do have to say that because we played so bad these last 2 games it causes me to re-look at the FAU game. Our D gave up lots of points, 38. Our O looked good but was it their D that was so bad.
If we are unable to win on Sat. then I am not optimistic that we would have a winning season.
Without a winning season TB needs to be replaced, period end of discussion.

I'm with you about the D not looking good in any of our games so far. Many on here were touting our new DC. I'm going to repeat my initial reaction, which I had in suspension for the start of the season, hoping that the new defensive schemes would pan out, "Can anything good come out of Miami?" [Charlie Coles, excepted.]

Fordham has shown a lot of offense but not much defense this season. They've given up 125 points in three games (41.7 ppg) to Wagner, Monmouth and Albany. Monmouth had 713 total yards vs Fordham -- 390 on the ground and 323 in the air -- and still lost (Fordham had 706, including 402 in the air). Albany had 527 last week including 412 passing (Fordham had 603 total, 464 passing). They protect their QB -- just two sacks allowed in three games -- and have a good pass rush -- seven sacks in three games.

These stats have me worried, particularly their passing attack. I haven’t seen the improved defense some on here were predicting in the preseason. We have blitzed well, at times, that that’s about it.

I just finished watching the coaches press conference and listened to his high praise for Fordham. I could not help but think he was already down playing our chances to win this game.
When he talks up our team I don't think he is watching the same game we are. This reminds me of Biden when he states we are not in a recession.
The coach is trying very hard to put on a positive face when things are not going well.
A lose this week to a 1-AA team would be a disaster for us. Going into the Kent game at 1-3 @ Kent will be a huge mountain to climb.

Oh, for goodness sake. Every week, every press conference you criticize the message and messenger style. Do yourself a favor and skip the pressers going forward so you can enjoy life a bit more.

We beat FAU which most people thought would not happen. We were never going to beat Penn State or Iowa State, so it's no surprise there. Sure we've given up a lot of points and yards but I feel much better about where we are now then say last year at this point.

What would you say if we were 0-3 going into the Fordham game?

And to be honest looking at our MAC schedule there is not a team on there that scares me in the slightest, sure we won't win them all but the MAC is down this year big time, especially in the West.

Just to add to your worries, OCF: In three games their QB has 16 TDs vs 3 INTs. I think can handle their running game but our DBs and D line will need to step up Saturday. We've had seven sacks in the last two games, and are now tied for 27th in sacks in D1A. We'll need to keep that going Saturday.

Getting beat up by two big teams makes me feel a little less of a man.
It almost has me wondering why I don't root for a real team.
The facts are facts, the MAC is light years away from top tier college football.

State just embarrassed the MAC's best team Toledo.

Moving forward Ohio controls its own destiny.

The MAC East is the worst division in football.
Kent State is going to get decimated by Georgia.

The team needs to nut up beat their sub division opponent and take advantage of a demoralized Kent State team.

Take their own destiny or make way for the band.

Penn state just destroyed auburn, Iowa state is undefeated. I think our offense and defense has shown flashes of good play in both games. Need to rebound here with a win going into Mac play. Season is far from lost and if we learn from mistakes and improve think we can have a great season.

Fordham is also undefeated and has put up a lot of points grant it to non D1 opponents but can’t sleep here have to get a win for momentum into Mac play. Lots of people questioning our d. Don’t think they looked as bad as others do offense hasn’t helped last two games to keep them off field or score points to keep them in the game. Will be interesting to see how we respond to adversity of two straight losses.

This has the potential to be another Howard game from 2018. Cam Newton's brother was their QB and hit us for a career-high 439 passing yds. We trailed most of the way, and probably would've lost if not for a big defensive play very early in the game (maybe the first play from scrimmage). One of their receivers was on his way to a TD when one of our DBs caught up with him and stripped the ball. We recovered deep inside our territory. We eventually took a 38-32 lead and stopped them on their last drive, thanks to a 4th down incompletion that might've been called pass interference if we had been playing the B10.

I remember that game well. I was attending with my younger daughter's father-in-law, Ron, a Howard alumnus. I almost had to have crow for dinner! He's often reminded me how close that game was. The previous year Howard's team had pulled the biggest upset in Las Vegas betting history when they beat UNLV (sort of ironic). I believe a $400 bet would have netted over a million dollars. At half-time Ron was joking with me that he'd placed a bet on the OHIO game and was going to be a millionaire by the end of the day. I certainly hope this Saturday's game is decided by halftime. Or, should, I placed a bet on Fordham and use my winnings to buy out Albin's contract the following week?

You need to head over to the Fordham fan site. They rave about how well Albin represents the university in pressers, depth of his answers, respect for opponent, etc.

I was impressed when he was asked a question by a young (student) reporter and made a point of getting the kid's full name.

I think he's very likeable. Just hope he can start to have some success.

I agree he's likeable, and I also hope that he can turn things around, but I'm becoming increasingly skeptical. If we cover the spread on Saturday, I'll feel better, but the real test will be the following week at the Golden Flushes. So far, I see a few signs of improvement from last year, but the question is was the W against FAU a fluke or a sign of better things to come.
