Talked to Jeff McKinney about this at the tailgate yesterday and he had no clue.  Word on the street is that you guys were asked to take this down.  Any truth to that?  The ironic thing is that those on the committee haven't seen in artists or architects renditions.  Care to shed some light on this mystery?

Not faulting you, Ryan, but things like that bother me a bit. We're talking about an indoor practice facility here...not national security. If there are drawings out there, that many have seen, there is no reason they can't be on a sports message board. What are they trying to hide? What could you possibly gain from trying to keep 2 abstract drawings "under wraps"? It's a public university. If someone really wanted to see it, they could just do a records request anyway. IMO, our department should be much more open and transparent. Just one old guy's opinion!

The thread simply needs to be put back up.

No need for a discussion of constitutional rights or common sense or integrity or national security.

It simply needs to be restored.

There's also the old addage that once something is on the Internet, it's there forever.  20 seconds on google brought me the renderings back.

Here's another thought.  Perhaps they don't have enough money to build it per the committee's recommendations and once folks find out what won't be included, it may be that much more difficult to raise the money.

Regardless, when did the folks in the Convo control this message board?  I bet Monroe is on a plane now for Athens to address this.

I think we've hit a nerve.  Care to share with us those reasons?   And, are we to assume, that going forward all posts on this board are subject to prior review from the Convo? 

Give it a rest, the Athletic Department wants the post taken down. I will give them the right on this one, but understand the fact that this could be a slippery slope, so I am cautious.

How important though is Women's Track in the grand scheme of Ohio Athletics? The campus doesn't have the room for the wider facility.

Sorry you feel that way Ben because it's not true.  But if you want to keep believing that and publicly claiming it to be true, it's something I'll just have to live with.  I've certainly been called worse things before.

As for the indoor facility, I personally would like it to be a facility that all on campus could benefit from not just a select few.  If you feel that that is wrong, which I don't believe that deep down inside you do, I'm sorry.

I honestly don't have any idea of what their reasons might be since they were not shared with me.  I suspect Panda's thoughts are probably close.

Just as we have done in the past, if the athletic department makes a request of us, I have no problem honoring their request as a fan who wants the best for Ohio athletics. 

Just because I don't get my rocks off by sticking my finger in the eye of the Ohio University athletics department, doesn't mean I have no spine.  As Ben said, you clearly are pushing an agenda here, as usual.  If I'm accused of pushing the company line, so be it.  I have no problem being labeled a fan of Ohio University.

So, Ryan, do you double dog swear that the "tragic data loss" wasn't you honoring an Athletics Department request to cleanse the board of a near-decade's worth of intelligent discussions about ethical and legal lapses by athletes, coaches and administrators?

I mean, I don't know much about doing IT work, but my understanding is that backing everything up to a point of protective redundancy would be standard practice. I do know a fair amount about content provision, and my instincts tell me that restoring data to retain archival content on a popular message board about a public institution would be a high priority under normal conditions.

Now we find out that there is a precedent (or antecedent) for the administration asking for and receiving selective scrubbings of Bobcatattack.

Judging from the fact that your drawers are in a bunch about this, and that you evidently define college sports fandom as maintaining an agreeable posture for the department, I think my question about the data loss is sensible.

You do realize that correspondence from the Athletics Department to the mullahs could also fall under public records laws, don't you? This isn't Xavier or Vanderbilt.
