to the rational Herd fans I say 'welcome, looking forward to the game and best of luck'. I enjoy the conversation and I hope this game continues to be exciting every year. Its good for the schools and its good for the region.
Now for the couple of pin heads that make rediculous claims that make it sound like the '95 Cowboys are about to play Athens Middle School let me say- Thanks you x1000!!
There's nothing funnier than watching Herd fans try to talk like they are so above the MAC, its obvious they are just trying to convince themselves, more than anyone else. Its hard to face realty- the MAC years were your glory days. Only one winning season since joining CUSA (you're welcome), every away game is in another time zone (let's car pool to El Paso!) and you got clobbered by a really bad Bowling Green just last year. but keep telling yourselves you're so much better than everyone, if it helps get you through the night. And congratulations on moving to a better conference, I'm sure going 5-7 in CUSA is much more satisfying than going 13-0 in the MAC and being ranked in the top 10 in the nation. How embarrassing that must have been, to have all that national attention but be in such a terrible conference, with away games in driving distance and all.
Back to the game- I know who I'm rooting for but I have no idea who I would bet on. It's going to be a good one, wish I could be there. Go luck Herd, GO OHIO!
I, for one, miss the MAC. It's not about success. I think, in the Snyder era, we would have won no more than 7 in any given year, if that. I miss the MAC for the reason mentioned above...being able to go to all the games. I thought then, think now, that CUSA was largely a lateral move in terms of strength of schedule. After all, see UCF's dominance of CUSA. They moved same year we did. It was NOT about CUSA, which sucks. It was about Marshall sucking even more in the Snyder era. That said, I think this team is very different w/Holliday. The first real test is OU. OU game will tell us if the type of play exhibited last week can be sustained and improved upon. If so, the future is bright. If we lay an egg against OU, and we certainly could, I'm very worried.
