I would keep Keller, King, Harden, and Roback out for this game to let them heal those injuries.

If we do sit out Keller and Harden (which I don't disagree with), then there needs to be someone on each side of the ball that steps up BIG and fills their voids. The talent is there on this team but the silly mistakes (turnovers and penalties) at Rutgers are a result of lack of focus.  I feel like we are way more focused with both of those guys on the field, so I also wouldn't disagree with both of them playing this week either.

I dont think we can take the chance of sitting anyone the way we've played Kent State recently. Smash them into the ground and get the MAC season off on the right foot.

According to the Ravenna Record-Courier, Kent State's run stuffer Ishmaa'ily Kitchen dislocated his elbow late in the South Alabama game and will be out for Ohio.

+1.  They've owned us in recent years.  How can take the luxury of sitting guys out if they can play?  I realize it would be better to rest them, but we can't assume we'd win this game without these players.

Really.  We don't want to risk permanent injury to anyone but if we don't win this one, then there ain't much left worth fighting for.

Of cOUrse, we are going to smash the kents and the season is much on.

We may need all the D we can come up with.  Although Kent hasn't scored much this season (19 pts total in 3 games vs. 1A schools), they have a potentially HUGE (in more ways than one) weapon in frosh RB Trayion Durham -- 6'0, 260 pounds!  He leads the team in rushing; 148 yds on 47 carries in 3 games (3.1 avg).  Can't overlook their D, either -- 7 picks in 4 games.  They might also be good at stripping the ball; they're opponents have fumbled 12 times, losing 4.  This is a conference game and they've got to be ready.

I did say that I wouldn't be surprised either way to see these guys on or off the field. I personally think we should dominate Kent with or without players like Keller and Harden. Do realize however, that if they sit out, and we lose...we will all be pissed. Same as if they play and are re-injured in a blowout win for us.  So who knows. Go Cats!

Kent's defense has given Ohio fits in recent years.  Especially with respect to sacks.

So, why has this been the case and why will this season be different?

big reason for that is because Ohio's offensive line is experienced and HEALTHY for a first time in a long time, they've done a great job so far this year protecting Tettleton. So I'm not worried about sacks in this game.  ...Kent is not good this year, they lost to Louisiana Lafayette at home! LOL.  We should win this by at least 2 scores.

I agree on the OL difference this year versus any previous year.  Still though, Kent seems to have had the number of the Ohio offense.  Maybe the difference is this season we can run right at them, rather than letting their speedy undersized DLs cause problems in the passing game.  Just a idea...I'm looking for theories.

Also, don't be fooled by the Louisiana-Lafayette loss.  The Cajuns are good this season (beat 3-1 FIU).

I'm hoping that whatever Kent St. had going against Ohio left with Doug Martin and his coaching staff.

Our O-ffense is pretty good when playing at high speed.  Seems a function of a qb who makes good decisions.

It feels like no excitement, no energy, no interest for this game on this board.  Kinda strange.

10 reasons for lack of excitement:

(1) the weather

(2) the economy

(3)  Can't fans aren't talkin smack

(4)  Reds missed the playoffs

(5)  Bengals suck again

(6) The Buckeyes could lose 4 in a row

(7)  L.C.  decided to attend another game

(8)  the Pub raised their aquarium prices

(9)  Yuengling beer not available in Ohio until Oct. 3

(10)  Appearance by Vinton County Wild Turkey Festival queen at Cross Creek won't be until next week

1 reason for excitement

Man, that really would have been the icing on the cake this weekend. But at least it will be there for homecoming.
