I'm sure they fancy themselves too good for this, but hey its possible. They finish 6-6, we finish with 10 or 11 wins.

I'd never be so excited to play in the Little Caesars Bowl.

That's assuming that O$U can get to six wins this year.  Their next three games are vs. ranked teams, so they could be 3-5 heading into Nov.

I bet they will go to 3-5, but still end up 6-6.  But if they get to 6 wins, they'll get a better bowl invite that the Pizza Bowl...Because they're OSU.

If they end up something like 7th in the B10 and are bowl eligible they may be contractually obligated to go to the Pizza! Pizza! Bowl.  They'd hate it.  Their fans would hate.  But, they might have to go.  That would be an interesting spectacle to watch.

Edit:  I checked and it's actually contractually B1G #8

A 6-6 Ohio State team probably would get picked ahead of other 8-4 Big Ten teams for the Big 10's bowl spots becasue of the money benefit the bowl would get.

I don't believe they have that option the way the PIzzza! Pizza! bowl contract is written with the B1G.  The Detroit Classic is a B1G bowl.  It specifically pits the #8 B1G team against a MAC team.  In most years, however, the B1G has not had a #8 who was bowl eligible.

I'm just saying the other Big 10 bowls would jump on Ohio State even if other league teams clearly are better. As long as the Buckeyes are bowl eligible, I don't think they'd ever be the bowls' seventh choice from the league.

OK, I made a correction.  The contract is actually for B1G #8.   So, if the Buckeyes finish #8 in the B1G AND are bowl eligible, they would be contractually obligated to go to the LCPB in Detroit.

One thing that could work in favor of the Little Caesars Bowl is that it seems rather unlikely at this point that the Big 10 will have two teams in BCS bowls. Most years they do and so they actually have nine bowl slots to fill. Plus, there's an extra team in the league this year, so I'd say at this point, this is the best chance in a while of a Big 10 team actually playing in the bowl. Only two Big 10 teams have actually ever played in the bowl, Purdue and Northwestern.

In other news and, also, something that actually matters:  we play Beefs this week.

We are not good enough to look past the next one.

They'd get out of it. We will absolutely, positively not play Ohio State in any bowl other than a BCS bowl (and not even then).

Agree. One can get out of anything contracted, except maybe herpes. If I'm OSU and didn't want the stain of a crappy bowl AND the possibility of losing to an "insignificant in-state opponent", I'd self-report some minor infractions before the bowl and administer self punishment of accepting no bowl bids.

I'm sure some directional team from the hinter conferences would be more than willing to fill OSU's spot.  Little Caesar's can be compensated with ad time on the Big Ten Network if they are perturbed.

I honestly wouldn't mind that...They'd just be showing their true colors to the rest of the world...

Yeah, since we fans don't have practice during the week, we can spend our idle hours thinking of what might be.   It's harmless pasttime ... so long as the players don't follow our lead.

If we think it, if we get cocksure, it could be in the air.

Yes, we have a nice squad.  No, we are not good enough to take any opponent 'for granted.'

He gets it. He finally gets it!

But seriously, I'm reminded of when the NIT wanted to send Ohio State to Kent... the Bucks weaseled out of it.

And Monroe's suggested that our "vibe" might affect the team is funny.

While I realize that you are still correct, oh omniscient one, I might point out that O$U did once play an NIT game in Athens that I suppose they would have preferred to play in Columbus, but the NIT told them it was Athens or they weren't getting an invite.  Though I'm not as omniscient as you, I was told this by one Danny Nee himself.  He's generally considered a reliable source on such matters. I can tell you more about this conversation in a PM if you're interested.

I don't doubt you... but the Kent incident is much more recent than the days of Danny Nee.

It wouldn't be so intentional to pick the bigger program first in the Big Ten pecking order but the 6th through 8th place finishers will be close enough or even tied in the standings pushing an OSU up and a Northwestern down to the 8th pick. Doesn't the MAC Champ play in the Little Cesar Bowl this year? It that game is against a Big Ten opponent I would bet we'd take it. Otherwise I suspect the Cats will play in a bowl somewhere out west as our turn is due.

JSF--I'm not saying that the team would pick it up from here.  I meant that if we have that feeling--if it's 'in the air'--then I hope that the team does not also feel that such as Buffalo is pretty much gonna be a walk in the park.  ...not 'causal'; coincidental.

OK, sorry. But... do you feel like the team lacks the necessary focus? I don't.
