...of their own destiny!

Regardless of your thoughts regarding the Buffalo game (which was played with a significantly depleted Defense and under the expert care of yet another pathetic MAC Officiating staff), we are IN CONTROL!

When you look at it, this season still boils down to the Temple game...

Ball State will feel the wrath even while we get healthy...

Same story for Akron...

BG has a MAC loss and still has to play both Toledo and Northern Ill as their cross over games...

Both Miami and Temple already have a MAC loss (just like us) and we get to hand them both their 2nd in the friendly confines of Peden!

The team is working towards being as healthy as possible for the Temple game while at the same time gaining experience at the 2 deep...

The BLACK-OUT will kick off a renewed confidence going into Central
and the true stretch run towards a MACC game!

While the Buffalo game has left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth, we all need to realize what Bobcat36 is saying, that the season is not all for nothing.  We can still go to the Mac Championship, we can still win, and we can still go bowling.

College Football is all about surprises, and one conference loss does not mean that we can retire the season now and wait until next year.  THIS is our year.

GO BOBCATS!

Yeah, I get all that. The thing that's most disappointing is that if there were ever a season to pick up heavier support for our team, this is it. We have a good team on paper, lots of exposure through "Relentless", the black jerseys, the 110, and OSU is losing. Any underachieving makes all that no longer matter. Are we headed to the same 9-5 record? No MAC champions? Loss in an underwhelming bowl game?

Wow, if true, BG's crossover games are against NIU, UT, and WMU. Perhaps the three best teams in the entire conference. Tough break for the Falcons.

No (I predict 8-4 or 7-5), yes and yes. I would have killed for 7-5 during the Cleve-Lichty-Knorr years, mind you, but it would be a huge disappointment this year. Yet I believe it's possible.

I think we are looking at anywhere between an 8-4 and 10-2 finish. I said 10-4 with a bowl win before the season started and that is something I still stand by. I don't see 3 more losses in there between Ball State, Akron, Temple, CMU, BGSU and Miami. To finish 7-5 the Cats would have to drop 3 out of their last 4 contests. There is no way the team is losing to Ball State next week at home or Akron the week after on the road thus Ohio would have to lose 3 out of its final 4 to finish 7-5.

I think we lose to Temple, CMU and maybe BG.  Just don't think we can beat Temple three straight years.  CMU is better than we had expected and that game will be on the road. Long, tough road trip. This year's team hasn't been the road warriors of 2010.  BG is very up and down but they've got talent, the game is up there, and they haven't had the string of injuries we have.  I do think we'll beat the piss out of Miami, which will help us salvage the season.  if we go 7-5, no bowl game IMO.

Also, I don't see the Akron game as a lock, especially if we continue to shed players over the next week. Plus I live in Akron, talk smack up here and have lousy luck in general.

I was going to respond to that, but I honestly can't even process the thought that an Ohio fan believes Akron has even the slimmest of chances against this team based on the fact that we lost a 1 point away game down 5 defensive starters...

As long as you know "]["emple is leading the MAC in Pass Efficiency Defense, Sacks per game, Rushing Offense, Scoring Defense, Punting, Rushing Defense, Kickoff Returns, Total Defense and Lovely People.

"]["emple crushed Ball State who smacked Buffalo who slipped by you....

MH,

I have a proposal for you...I never wager on my own teams because it takes away from the overall experience but I'm willing to make an exception (sort of) in this case...

I'm willing to put my posting privileges on the line if you are.  This obviously means a lot more to me than it does you, so I'm hoping you'll see the equity in what I'm proposing...

Come 11/2/11...

Ohio wins:  You allow the BA moderators to lock your account until the week prior to the next Ohio / Temple football match-up (assuming there ever is one).

Temple wins:  I allow the BA moderators to lock my account until the week prior to Spring ball.

I posted early last week that the Buffalo game was a classic example of a "trap game" and we shouldn't overlook this team.  And i was quickly corrected by someone who clearly has more sports knowledge and insight than I do that I had no idea what I was talking about....hmmm.  We got trapped alright.  Injuries are just an excuse.  If OU is this "rising" mid major program that all of you guys think they are, we should have PLENTY of athletes to step in and beat BUFFALO for crying out loud. This team is in trouble, deal w/ reality.

I am very pessimistic about the remainder of this season.  I think they'll go 1-5 the rest of the way.  The rough time they had with Kent and the disheartening loss in Buffalo has taken away any confidence and enthusiasm I had for this year's squad.  Sorry to say it but that's just how I feel.

Shabamon, I'm trying to figure out what the word "underachieving" is meant to suggest (?)

First, I didn't "correct" you...Nor did I infer that you had no idea what you were talking about...I simply stated my opinion just like you did...

Second, what I said was that this team was above falling into that mindset...If you're saying you honestly believe that loss was a result of lack of effort, we'll just have to agree to disagree...

It's clear Monroe Slavin can pin the pessimist tag on someone other than me.  I would be shocked by a record below 7-5.  But 7-5 is very possible.

MH,

I have a proposal for you....

I like proposals and wagers but this doesnt sound like much of a wager to me. The Admins can do lock me up anytime they want and/or I could potentially be forfeiting my right to post here for the rest of my life...how would I amuse myself between stock quotes and bondagetube.com ?

These internet wagers are fickle thingys. Ive paid off everyone but one and the one wont give me an address to send him his prize. Contrastly, I have only been paid off once, the Kent Poster "Axeme" sent me a tshirt per agreement the only honorable internet poster so far.

How bout this one?

If Ohio wins I will voluntarily leave the site until Temple plays Ohio in another major sport (ie FB, Baseball, Basketball)
If Temple wins, I want Pete Chocteau to send you a pic of him wearing the Temple T shirt I had to send him and I want you to post that as your profile pic until Ohio FB opens the 2012 season. Of course, this relies on quite a bit of honor among two Bobcat gents. I know Choteau hangs on my every word so lets see if he agrees... .

Or

.....you could just ignore reading my posts and not worry about any wager at all.

I would never ask Pete (or any Ohio Alum) to sink to those depths...

I'll just go back to ignoring you since you obviously don't have the confidence to take the original bet...

And the timing is terrible... we could have been ringing the cash registers this weekend for homecoming... first 5-1 team in 14 years... last week's loss is going to hit us in the pocketbook. We could run the table and win this thing still, but the cachet this team had, even after squeaking by Kent, is all but lost.

That said, I'll be there, every chance I get, cheering this team the f on to victory!!!

You did say "that the term "trap game" can't be applied to this team"...obviously wrong.  And said "we are witnessing a new era with this team"...which I'm also struggling to buy into because we've played down to the level of our inferior opponents the past 2 weeks.  You said "Noah simply won't let this go down"....he looks nothing like he has in years past on defense.

I'm just saying that sometimes you have to call em like you see em....and I see this Bobcats team in a very scary position right now.  I didn't question the effort during last week's game at all. Because I still believe that we have one of the best, if not the best offense in the MAC.  HOWEVER,  if we are supposedly this up and coming football program, then we should have enough good players to compete with the BUFFALO BULLS no matter who gets hurt.  Injuries are an excuse.  If the players in the 2nd spot on the roster aren't good enough to compete at this level, then why the hell are they getting a free ride to college?   This team will never turn the corner and gain respect and increase recruiting if we can't go on the road and beat BUFFALO.  If we have some crazy run at the end of the season and are lucky enough to sneak into the worst bowl game of the season, we better hope we're playing someone worse than BUFFALO.  Let me please repeat myself, we lost to BUFFALO with supposedly the best OU team in the past 50 years.   Face the facts people.

...and furthermore, our opponent this week, Ball State has already defeated Big Ten opponent Indiana this season and oh by the way, they beat BUFFALO!!!!!    So I'm simply wondering what the hell still has people so optimistic that we'll win the MAC and win a bowl game??!!  We're looking ahead to that, but looking past our game this week over a team that very well could beat us.

I guess we'll just have to re-visit this Sunday morning...

If we've lost to Ball State I won't argue another word with you...

If we haven't though, I'm guessing we'll re-visit it again after the Akron game and so on...

Fair enough...I'm not necessarily trying to argue with you, just putting out there what I think is truth. And I realize you're doing the same thing.  I don't know, I guess I'm just not as convinced as everyone else that this is still the best OU team in 40/50 years. Believe me, I want success for this team, but we are really in trouble on the most important side of the ball right now.  I mean your offense can be terrible and still win 3-0 if you have a great defense. And right now we are putting pressure on our offense to win a shootout.
