I have to agree the pass rush was not there. Late in game the woman behind me said of their QB "he is just standing there why don't they hit him". I had to laugh at that and I saw at least two kids running around in black jerseys. The cats just seemed lifeless no fire never seen that we are going to kick your butt attiude. They play that way against the owls it will be a long cold night in my seats, but i will be there cheering for the young men of Ohio.

I think the better question for this thread should be, "If TT weren't the starting QB through the first seven games, would we still be 4-3?"

My answer is no.

SBH does a good job of attending the games.  So credit to him for that.

But his posts and his opinions are incorrect.

We lost yesterday on the o-line, d-line and 'backers.  Our o-line isn't making much holes for the running game and the pass protection needs to be better at key moments.  D-line lost all of last year's starters, then our best player starting tackle and our other starting tackle, and our linebackers are injured and/or not stars.

Didja see our lack of pass rush, the great success Ballie had on third downs, and our qb under pressure?  Beside a couple of big plays, our offense did little--which combined with our bending defense to put us in consistently deep field position.  Yesterday was not about the qb or the jersey of a coach's child.

How do you manage to attend yet miss the obvious?  And not see the vital/important factors.

SBH-TT lost us the game? Seriously? How could you pick out that that is the brightest spot of this team as the kingpin for failure? Too many pre game black widows?

Yes he makes bad decesions, and Sat was not a pinnacle of accuracy. Of course he plays like a first year starter, HE IS A FIRST YEAR STARTER.I was the one who stated he is the best qb since Ol' Freak Nasty. I stand by that statement.

I thought I was green around here because I can only draw back to the Kareem "the Dream" days. You cant honestly think TT isnt the most able qb to take the field since. Maybe TTs decision making is factoring into the Olines blocking schemes. Or Hardens first step. Or even the Dlines ability to pressure the QB. I don't know. I do know we have a qb who will step into the pocket and throw the ball.

Great analysis from Monroe, as usual.  Did you see that OUr LB Noah Keller lead the team in tackles against Ball st? So, even though he is playing hurt, the LB's aren't to blame for this loss. The whole LB core is banged up and it's no secret. But, we put the best we have available on the field for every game. I don't want to hear any more excuses about people playing hurt because if there was someone better ready to step in, their named would have been called. "ie Antwan C. but on the D-Line of course"
Also, I dont think that throwing into double coverage is that wise of a decision when we put out 4-5 receivers on throwing plays. Given the strength of OUr wide receivers, we should be able to spread the ball around and find the open man.
I'm also thinking that #88 needs to be used more often and #5 can also cause some serious mismatch problems when he's covered by an opposing LB.
We have the talent, we just need to get OUr fire back.

You can find fault in some areas of Ohio Football, but I don't think Tyler Tettleton is one. He's completed 63% of his passes at an average of 235.9 yards per game with 15 TD's and just 4 INT's. I think that speaks to his decision-making. The first pass shouldn't have been thrown but I would further question even why that play is being run with 20 seconds left and on your own 37. On the second, he had a man deep but he underthrew it and allowed another defender on to the play. So I see that as a physical error not a mental one.

The problem with this team is on the defensive side. They can't get the other team off the field and means the Ohio offense must play a perfect game to win. Does anyone remember how big of a question mark the QB spot was coming into the season? Tettleton has not only answered the question but he might ultimately be a 3-year starter. Go back and watch games and count how many plays he makes. I counted like 5 times when he made plays late to keep drives alive against Buffalo. I haven't watched the BSU game on DVR yet but on the last drive (chart below) I thought he made a game-saving play when he scrambled around on that 3rd-and-12 play from the three to find Brazill for 20 yards.

Ohio 1-10 at Ohio05 OHIO UNIVERSITY drive start at 03:15.
Ohio 1-10 at Ohio05 TETTLETON, T rush for loss of 2 yards to the OHIO3 (PUTHOFF, Andrew).
Ohio 2-12 at Ohio03 TETTLETON, T pass incomplete to Dunlop, Riley (PINKSTON, Jason).
Ohio 3-12 at Ohio03 TETTLETON, T pass complete to Brazill, LaVon for 20 yards to the OHIO23, 1ST DOWN OHIO.
The previous play is under review.
The ruling on the field stands. Catch and first down.
Ohio 1-10 at Ohio23 TETTLETON, T pass complete to Bussey, Bakari for 6 yards to the OHIO29 (GARRETT, J.).
Ohio 2-4 at Ohio29 TETTLETON, T pass complete to Brazill, LaVon for 13 yards to the OHIO42, 1ST DOWN OHIO (JONES, Brian).
Ohio 1-10 at Ohio42 TETTLETON, T rush for 12 yards to the BSU46, 1ST DOWN OHIO (MARTIN, Tony).
Ohio 1-10 at Bsu46 TETTLETON, T rush for 8 yards to the BSU38, out-of-bounds.
Ohio 2-2 at Bsu38 TETTLETON, T pass complete to Brazill, LaVon for 6 yards to the BSU32, 1ST DOWN OHIO (MORRIS, Aaron).
Ohio 1-10 at Bsu32 TETTLETON, T rush for 4 yards to the BSU28 (OLLIE, Nathan).
Ohio 2-6 at Bsu28 Timeout Ohio University, clock 00:56.
Ohio 2-6 at Bsu28 TETTLETON, T sacked for loss of 7 yards to the BSU35 (PUTHOFF, Andrew).
Ohio 3-13 at Bsu35 TETTLETON, T pass complete to Dunlop, Riley for 11 yards to the BSU24 (GARRETT, J.).
Ohio 4-2 at Bsu24 Weller, Matt field goal attempt from 41 MISSED - wide left, spot at BSU24, clock 00:36.

Agreed.

Tettleton has played well above my expectations. If anything, I didn't think so much responsibility would be heaped on his shoulders. I thought Boykins and Harden would be thrashing defenses on the ground and Brazill would be making hey with yards after the catch with Tettleton being merely a game manager in the mold of Everson.

Monroe, you have no idea how happy I am that you disagree with me.

You might, however, want to clue in Frank Solich to the "real" reasons why we lost.  He attributed it to turnovers (as did I).  I think all of us fans would be much more confident if you could move back to Athens to oversee game preparation for the coaching staff.  You could offer such nuggets as "We're playing kents" and "We lost to ballie" to their analysis of film.

Blee--Your fascination with me and parts of my life that I haven't mentioned in decades is a little bit weird.  I hope you're not going to go stalker.

If you are going to dredge up history, however, please get the slogan right and give the full picture in terms of the effectiveness of the student organization about which you speak; the fine efforts of others deserve their due.  I know that you have a problem recognizing facts, truth and success such that my plea is futile.  But a reasonable representation of the truth seems appropriate, no matter how much it irks you.
