Uh, for you naysayers about mid-week MAC, enjoy it while you can.  'cause the big boys are watching and we are not likely to have this forum much longer.  At least not all to ourselves.  It's too good for others not to want some of this.  Which is your proof that it works.

And all it took was a work stoppage in one of the major sports, which was in the plan all along, right?

I always thought is was "Woodrow Wilson Hayes".  It must have bugged Woody to no end to have been named after a Democrat.

I  It is rumored that Wayne Woodrow Hayes raised that tactic to an art.

With the help of one of our richest alums John Galbreath.

Wilson was the most racist president from Lincoln until today -- not just some random Democrat.  But, luckily Woody's name was actually Wayne Woodrow Hayes.  His parents didn't lay that on him.   Whew!

Got a glimpse of the Marshall at Memphis CUSA game.  The crowd looked to be similar to the BG crowd with maybe about a thousand more, tops.  Big time football??

Also the S. Mississippi at UAB game tonight. Game is on, I believe, CBSSportsTV. Or something like that.

I also found the Marshall game on FSOhio.  I thought it was a tape delay.

Are we now all in agreement that these mid-week games on ESPN are a good call?

Well, I guess I can finally chime back in on this after the last few days of plenty of people making valid points on differing opinions....it has definately been fun to read what different people's responses have been.  I didnt think this would grow like it did when I started the thread last weekish when I was basically venting because I wasnt able to attend these last few week's all-important games.

I definately agree that the mid week games on the tube are a huge plus for mid-major programs like ours, I have never thought they weren't.  Again good exposure, and really good money for a program like ours that would by most standards get lost in the shuffle nationally with all Saturday games. (dont want to open this can of worms again)

What I dont like is how, essentially, the last half of our season is played through the week

I admit, this is a purely a selfish reason because I have been "jonesing" as of late since I havent been able to be at any of the games to get that sensation of being in a seaon-deciding game atmosphere.

ESPN while it does fill the coffers, just doesnt capture that.

Either way I am glad we went 3-0 on the "motherships" main stations, ESPN UNO, DOS, and the U (our loss to Bally was on the net) and even clinched in the dramatic fashion we did this past Wed night.
