Miami might have the worst offensive line in D-I.

You're not the only one that's recognized their O line problems:

My concern is that this is the 3rd game in a 12 day period - back to back short weeks are tough. Seven days really isn't enough time to heal, and you take one day out once you are usually ok, but do it back to back, it may be rough. Ohio had 3 games in 12 days in 2007, and lost to Akron after beating BG and Temple, one of only 4 games Akron won that year.

Maybe. I hope so. Still, it was that loss that kept the Bobcats from a bowl that year, and the Bobcats under Solich have rarely lost to a team with a losing record. I remember that game as it was on TV, and the Bobcats just looked flat. It will probably help that this is at home, while that one was on the road.

Between the forecast weather and the 4th game in 20 days, this has the feel of that may not be easy at all.  Given the factors--they really wanna break our streak against them, they wanna stop our current win streak, they wanna spoil the taste of our East title, etc--almost any win will suffice.

It really seems that Frank has the Redchickens' number.  I just sense that he really wants this sixth victory in a row.  I think he'll pull out all the stops necessary.  Heck, he might even put in Phil Bates for a play or two.

FYI: Two of his early victories over the preppies were on my birthday and I have autographed programs from him saying "Happy Birthday."  These are treasured heirlooms to be handed down in the family for generations.

My concern for tonight is mainly with the weather.  Rain will make the running game more important and hanging onto the ball imperative.  After three fumbles last week, there's real cause for concern.  Also, because numerous thunderstorms are in the forecast, this is one that could see delays -- which would hurt the flow of the game -- or even a shortened game (ala Terd-WVU and others in Sept.) -- which would emphasize getting off to a fast start, something the Cats have rarely done this year.

Must win, for all the usual reasons.  Plus, 9-3 has a bit of luster.  8-4 via a loss to those guys, not so much.

Agreed.  Also, if we win we get the East title outright which to me, "adds luster."  We lose, and we get the East title because of tiebreakers.

With the weather, we need to be able to run the ball. With the east clinched, we just need to stay healthy.

I woke up this morning with an epiphany, and a totally different outlook on tonight's game.  I like others was concerned about the passing attack of Fiami, but then realized this morning that OUr team has everything to play for tonight, while the preppies have little other than ending the streak.

You put this tough group of men out there in difficult conditions on a sloppy track against a bunch of pretty boys when they are fighting for:
  • An outright title
  • Recognition from the GoDaddy Bowl that they are the best team in the MAC
  • Another mug, which Groomsey always seems to get them amped up for
  • Eliminating the memory of what happened at Kant last year
  • And another 6Deuce reasons that are top of mind for them
...And Miami doesn't stand a chance.  They stop Dysert on the first couple of drives and don't turn the ball over, and everything else becomes easy.

Yes, their offensive line is awful. Dysert has put up good numbers the last two weeks but has been sacked seven times in each game. They can't run the ball at all so they use a short passing game. So we have to make tackles on Harwell and Givens after they catch the ball.

So this is my first post and I really decided that I needed to join the website after reading so much on this site.

I get a call today from the athletic department informing that I had won the VIP package to be on the sidelines at tonight's game. The tickets will be left at will call under my name. Did I know I had won? No I didn't know I had won. I live in North Carolina and you call me at 2:30 to make a 7 hour drive to go the game tonight. I would have love to have been there to meet Frank and the boys, but I have family in town for Thanksgiving.

Hoping the boys will crush Fiami tonight, and the Athletic Department will be in such a good mood they will go ahead and agree to send me one of the black jerseys. What do you think my chances are of getting one of them since they forgot to inform me? Can anyone pull some strings for me.

Thanks,
Mac

I've heard this about their offensive line a couple times on here because of all the sacks.  I saw something different when I watched the Miami  game a little last week.  I saw a couple plays where he clearly held the ball too long when he should have thrown it away and he just doesn't have lot of mobility either.  I'm not so sure it's just the offensive lines fault.

I think the game is going to be a really tough one to win.  Miami has a much better defense than most of the throwing teams we have played and Frank talked their D a lot during the press conference -for good reason-not just coach-speak based on the MAC stats.

Decision making still isn't one of Dysert's strong points. Sometimes he throws into coverage and sometimes he holds on to the ball too long. But they have given up 42 sacks and their leading rusher among running backs has 328 yards. I'd say that's a reflection on their offensive line..
