I think you have to get Jordan Thompson out in the passing game early and often.  Their DB's will be keying on Brazil and if you can run some play action to suck the linebackers in to the line of scrimmage and run Thompson down the middle of the field early, you're going to open up both the running and passing game.

Thompson is averaging 2 receptions per game, he may be overlooked by NIU and could be a great weapon for us in this game.

As for our offensive strategy, I think we have to dance with the girl we brought to the prom.  I say run our regular offense the whole game.  If we start thinking about trying to "slow the game down", I'm afraid it could get us all out of whack.

I don't see any MAC team stopping NIU's offense.  Kudos to EMU for holding them to 18; but that was an aberration.  I think L.C. is on target by saying we should try to hold NIU under 30 and then score over 30 ourselves.

NIU seems to be highly motivated for this game based on their disappointment last year.  They don't seem to be overlooking Ohio.

Chandler Harnish is a Heisman level player.

While this is relatively unimportant I still wanted to mention the spread.
I've been watching Sheridans odds starting yesterday. Between yesterday & today it has changed many times between 3.5 -4.5. It is currently at 3.5.
I just find this interesting because I have not seen this number of changes within such a short period of time.
Anyone have any thoughts?

We really need our kicking and coverage units to do well. Their kid sprung two long ones against Toledo and kick coverage has not been our strength. We need high kicks and we have to get down there and make tackles. Hershey needs to have a good game. We can't turn the ball over. Their offense doesn't need any help. We can't give them short fields.

The Vegas guys are obviously reading this board and are worried about the great QB strike!

If NIU scores less than 30 and Ohio scores more than 30, I like the Cats chances of pulling this one out.

But, what if we succeed in only one of those two? Which gives us a better chance?

That Principles of Logic 101 class and Calculus 163A coming in handy right now.  Along with your statistics courses.

I got A's in both 163A and Math 250 (statistics).  That's how I was able to dissect L.C.'s statement to make my solid prediction.

All this Logic talk is making my head hurt. Where's MH55 when you need him?

If MH55 is on BobcatAttack, he's annoying us.

 MH55 is on Bobcatattack.

 Therefore, MH55 is annoying us.

Just adding a little modus ponens to this discussion on logic :)

Note that it is equally true that if Ohio fails at both goals, they can not win the game, however the result is indeterminate if Ohio succeeds at one goal but not the other.

Loved that class but it's always been a tough call between that and Botany 101...

I loved PHIL 120. My instructor, two days before what was to be a rather difficult exam, told us "if you don't commit to studying the next two days, you are going to f*cking fail."

Ahhh...PHIL 120. The freshman-level class I took spring quarter of senior year just to keep my hours up for scholarship purposes. Also my favorite finals story: Being a graduating senior in a freshman level class I in no way needed to graduate (plenty of hours, already admitted to law school, etc.), I took the liberty of not studying at all and getting hammered the night before the 8AM final. Why? B/c I could. Anyway, so I roll in for the final still drunk and sit down, and the G.A. looks at us and says, "I really hope you studied for this. You've got 2 hours, and you're all going to need almost all that time to finish." 20 minutes later I'm turning the test in with the whole class giving me the we-know-you're-still-drunk-from-last-night-and-graduating-and-don't-care-about-this-at-all-god-we-hate-you stare, while the G.A. gives me the dude-are-you-serious? look. I aced the class, so I'm assuming I aced the final too since it was like 50% of our grade.

Also, I'm surprised that there's not more love for TCOM 184 on here as a favorite class.

So uh the MAC Championship Game...

I feel like this game is going to be a super close one through out.  I think both teams are evenly matched and it should be a great one to watch.

Go Cats!

I think this will come down to Ohio's linebacker play.  Our offense should match (or overmatch) NIU's D.  The problem will be getting pressure on Harnish -- their O line is HUGE; I'm not sure our D line alone can challenge them -- and containing him when he scrambles.  This adds up to our linebackers helping to pass rush AND keeping him between the tackles.  A healthy-enough Keller is really key to all this and the outside backers will need to step up bigtime.

...if our linebackers are committed to wrapping up and tackling.  As the season went on, I grew weary of watching one guy try to rip the ball and two others throw a shoulder at the offensive player.  Harnish is slippery.  We will not win if the defense does not wrap up and drive them to the ground.

I had the late Dr. Robert Wieman for Intro to Philosophy -- Plato, Descartes and a little Kant, if I remember correctly.  One of the best classes that I ever had.  I took several other philosophy classes because of that great experience and graduated with a minor in that subject.

Philosophy 120 was the most humbling course I ever took. I worked so, so hard... I just couldn't get it. I had an actual panic attack during the final. Not fun.

I took the 120 course I mistakenly called 101 above.  Also, I had Dr. Wieman for a course entitled "History of Philosophy:  Descartes to Hume."  He was a master instructor.  I worked my butt off in that class and was happy and proud to get a B+.  As OCF will attest, Dr. Wieman didn't inflate grades.
