anorris,

Will the Beefs game be available on TWC in Athens?  I see it listed as TWC-NY.  I would assume that they'd pipe it into Athens if it's on in another TWC region.  Can you confirm or deny my assumption?  Thanks.

Fair question, although I can't answer it authoritatively.  It wouldn't hurt to check the local access and overflow channels like 24 and 99, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't there.  Might be worth trying to get ahold of somebody at TWC (although that can be like pulling teeth).

I don't really have any precedent to go on here, either, since our games with Buffalo have been on 2 and the U the last four years.  Might have to sidle up to somewhere that gets ESPN3 if you don't have RoadRunner.

Beefs game is listed on gameplan/espn3 without the 'exclusive' designation.  So shouldn't it be widely available on cable TV (instead of only the 'net with its questionable/variable quality)?

Thanks, anorris.  I can get ESPN3 via my DSL connection with Frontier, and I can connect that to my TV; however, it would be a whole lot easier and better if TWC just aired it locally!  We have out-of-town guests coming for a visit and they very much want to watch the game together, so one way or the other I've got to get it up on my LCD TV screen.

Not exactly -- the "exclusive" moniker merely means the game was being produced and aired only on ESPN3.com.  This game is being produced by Time Warner in Buffalo, who produces many of the home games for the Bulls and Orange that aren't otherwise televised, much like Buckeye Cable does in NW Ohio, and GTN used to do for us.

Much as our GTN deal didn't do much for our friends in Buffalo when they came to Athens, the same is likely true here.  The advantage to 3 is making that type of game available in some fashion elsewhere in the country.

Note, the game is listed here as ESPN3, but specifically not GamePlan -- I haven't seen anything to indicate it will be available through that subscription cable service yet.

[UPDATE]

Recently found that the GamePlan logo is showing up on our game as ESPN.com, so if you subscribe to that, you should be in luck (also, this is great news for those who may wish to watch in a watering hole of their choice).

Excellent news about a couple new gameplan telecasts. I might get my money's worth yet (actually, there is no chance of me getting my money's worth, but still nice that I can see a few more Bobcat road games).

You get your money's worth with one quarter of OHIO FOOTBALL. The rest is free.

Look, you could have a life in which you suffer the damnation irritation of being a temples or 'kron or redhawks fan.  Yup, it could be a lot worse.

Unless you're willing to fork out $20+ to order Gameplan for the weekend, yes.

However, if you can find a sports bar to loan you a TV, virtually all subscribe to GamePlan.

Are you in Ohio/get STO?  If you aren't in the STO viewing area, you'll be in the same situation for the next two games, as well.

Is this game on STO? I am in Cincy and have STO. I know the next two games are on STO. Ball State I could care less because I will be there.

This game is not, just the next two weekends.

anorris, still no word on Athens TWC picking up the feed from NY TWC?   Would seem to be a no-brainer, but then TWC sometimes acts like they have less than no brain -- sort of a cranium with a negative number indicating a vacuum.

Nothing I've seen.  And you certainly won't hear me refute that about TWC.

The Athens cable company and the NY cable company share "Time Warner" in name only, they are basically separate companies.

Movement of the Nov 2 game vs. Temple to ESPN merited a mention in today's Wall St. Journal, of all places...

Neither the Ohio/BG or the WMU/Miami game on Nov. 16 are listed on the ESPN website.

They haven't made the decision yet as to which game will air on which network.  Until that is determined (which should happen very soon), you won't see a designation there.  Due to the lockout, which bumps both games up one network, that game will be either on ESPN or 2.
