This thread reminds me of why I see lots of young kids (and their parents) quitting on football. Shake off the "cob webs" impacting your brain and/or rub some dirt on that knee or ankle or shoulder and get back out there kid.... Winning this game > everything else. And that coach is a total disaster for being cautious with an injured player and needs to be fired... I want a deep analysis/interview about that kid's injury regardless of what that kid and his family want to divulge... We were not entertained!!!!!
I don’t think it’s wise to generalize what a decent portion of our posters are thinking. Many of us are perfectly fine with Tim Albin being cautious with Kurtis Rourke. What we’re not okay with is him struggling to communicate effectively about the situation that unfolded. If he simply said, “we were concerned about Kurtis following the sack and thought it was best for him to sit the remainder of the night,” none of us would’ve been upset with his decision.
This is Public Relations 101. Albin is a poor communicator with the media. He’s a nice person and good coach but he botched his messaging.
Hell, if Albin didn’t say “he wasn’t concerned” and that “Rourke was mad about not going back in,” we wouldn’t even be having this conversation right now. His comments made it appear as though it was possible for Rourke to return and they denied him the opportunity, regardless of if that’s factual or not. If we were a Big 10 program, this would be a media circus right now.
