My issue with this isn't that the injury seems far-fetched or out of line from what I thought in the immediate moments after the injury, my questioning is the statement that he already had ACL surgery last week. Even my quick googling paired with what I recall of NFL players suffering injuries is that the surgery comes weeks after the injury, after swelling has come down. I'd love to have a medical professional answer this, but I highly doubt an ACL surgery would occur in the hours after the injury. If it was performed last week, that means that it would've been done in the 72 or so hours following the injury. That seems highly skeptical.
Again I say, I do not blame the skepticism...but I will continue to defend the idea. It seems quite plausible that this is a non-traumatic tear with minimal swelling, as supported by Albin saying Wed there was no swelling. Piecing all our info together, I think the MRI scan revealed the ligament damage and they said the area appears ready for surgery and we can fit you in right away (with next fall in mind).

Keeping this info from the public could come down to wanting to keep BG guessing...or it could be as simple as we literally do not have anyone doing actual journalistic work on the Bobcats so no one with any credentials has asked / had anything to report and everyone else doesn't feel authorized to publicly give such news.
I'm not directing the skepticism directly at you personally, but you did just drop an ACL bomb on here an hour or two ago to get things swirling. We've all been under the assumption it's a knee sprain and then you threw a credible source post with that little nugget.

This was my crazy conspiracy since the day after the game. Why wouldn't Albin tell everybody that Rourke is good to go? Is there any sort of rule he is breaking by telling a little white lie?

If the media were to ask him why he was being optimistic on Rourke's status, he could easily deflect to "I didn't know for sure."

So, this begs the question: Who was your source? Obvously, we don't expect a name, but you haven't even given us anything as vague as "an informed source," or even "former equipment manager."
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Kurtis pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. #SaveFerris

Well, I have it more directly from the roommate of the kid who is going with the girl who saw Kurtis, but he says that his roommate said that she said that he was running up Jeff Hill (Putnam Hill to us oldtimers) and fell down and broke his collarbone and had surgery on it on Friday.

Vegas is still at -7 -- my guess is they would know if he wasn't playing and the spread would have moved much lower.
IMO, this is a little closer to what the spread would be if the bets were expecting Harris, harder to know but I think around 4 or 5, and if Rourke were 100% which I expect 11 or 12. I think Albin has managed to keep if we have 90% Rourke, extremely hobbled Rourke and Harris, or just Harris a good secret.
This tip sheet leads me to believe that 7 is just an amalgamation of all possibilities - Rourke at 90%, Rourke seriously hampered by injury, or no Rourke at all - and nobody outside the team actually knows anything.

https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/story/2022/... /

As I have been saying, I agree with "Bowling Green is 6-5, but this is not a very good team."

If we lose tonight I hope Buffalo beats Kent St. I don't have any issue rooting for one school with respect to the other it is just that Buffalo is a much, much better team and Rourke's injury, to me, is just another is a series of lucky breaks that are helping keep a very bad team alive in a weak conference. I'd hate to see this continue and Bowling Green represent the MAC in the bowls as its champion and humiliate the conference by losing by 45 to Boise St., or Tulane, or Troy......I'm not sure any MAC team (Ohio, Toledo, Buffalo) is going to fare well in a matchup like that this year but they'll be a much lesser underdog than BG.

I thought that the Buffalo snow storm was might be another gift from on high to help make that happen, and although I disagree with the MAC's policy on this, I am thankful for it in this case. Buffalo probably wasn't going to lose to Akron and we don't need BG getting any more motivation, help, or breaks.

Use this thread for any and all updates and speculation regarding the status of our beloved leader's knee.....

A very apt title you chose for this thread. In the end, Ohio needs to beat BG with, or without Rourke, and BG will be beaten. Go Bobcats.

OK, a BG guy. But if accurate, that would mean some pretty fair journalism beating a whole bunch of others to the punch.

He's also an Ohio Alum. Vegas Line as fallen 1 to 1.5 points in the last half hour or so depending where you look. I'd think this is credible.

Tough break. Defense better step up tonight and help out our offense which I assume will be rather vanilla.

Rourke is out for the season, but not using crutches anywhere on campus?

Someone should answer for this extreme failure. Even if it's Kurtis.

Chess game. Needed to keep BG on their toes. And a dual QB with hardly any tape isnt too bad. Hopefully we protect the ball and call a run-balanced game.

You think they knowingly asked Rourke to walk around on a torn ACL in order to throw off the 106th ranked defense?

Tore his meniscus, I swear that’s what I thought because I tore mine and in a similar fashion. I was actually in a hotel in Hong Kong leaving the hotel with a couple of heavy bags, made a slight turn of my body and boom. Excruciating pain and barely made it back to the US, took the golf cart in Atlanta because I couldn’t walk. Had the MRI and they said rest, try and rehab or we can snip it but you may not be able to run long distance again. Now 70 and still run 20 miles a week, I was about 45 when I tore mine.

No, I dont't think they knew how bad it was at the time (and if they did, they played if off). But maybe Rourke didnt want to go out on crutches to keep the team spirits up during the game. Put on a smile for everyone. Sometimes leaders do that.

He said on air he tore his ACL and meniscus.

We’ll be lucky to see him by October next year.

I’m gonna say it…This is a well-coached team. Interchangeable parts. Maturity. Poise. They are the whole package. Extend Albin.

Dang, that's worst case injury news. ACL is typically a year for full recovery by itself. Fingers crossed we can hopefully see him at some point next season.
