Yeah.  Barely.  More later, but my take is that we should've won by 14.  USU is not a bad team but, goodness, they were 7-5.  A loss today could have set the program back decades.

10-4 bowl win. loss set the program back decades.? Man who pissed in your eggnog?

I HAVE BEEN READING ALL THIS CRAP BY YOU SOFA COACHES.  IT IS TIME TO BECOME A TRUE BOBCAT AND REALIZE THAT WE WON.  IT DOES NOT MATTER IF IT IS BY 14 OR 1.  IT IS A VICTORY. OUR 1ST AND  I HOPE  MANY MORE.

I WILL LET THE COACHES THAT ARE ON THE FIELD AND PRESSBOX DO MY COACHING AND NO LONGER READ YOUR CRAP.  BE A HAPPY BOBCAT AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.  BY THE WAY SOFA COACHES THE SCORE WAS

I saw much poor coaching on our side today.  Take a look at the time my posts complaining about the lack of hurry-yp in our offense were posted as compared to the game action.  It was EXACTLY when we went to the hurry-up--TO OUR IDENTITY WHEN OUR OFFENSE PLAYED ITS BEST THIS YEAR--late in the second quarter that we started scoring, that our offense finally got going.

What is far, far away the stupidest penalty in football?  (Well, may be tied with stupid personal fouls.)  Not gettting a play off before the play clock expires.  We had that situation at least three times today.  My gawd, we came out of halftime prep and the first thing we do on our first play from scrimmage is burn a time out on our first play because the play clock is running out.  Are you kidding me?

Hey, how about 37 seconds left in the game and ball at their 6-inch line and we run a one-back set, going with our qb right up the middle from the shot gun.  Gee, it's not like we've done that before.  Our coaches are fulltime professionals and they don't have a two-back set for that situation that would would prevent the defense from keying on our usual set?

About mid-way third quarter and USU has it at about their 25, 3rd and five.  We don't blitz (hardly blitzed all day) and they get the first down.  Next play their guy goes for a 45 yard run.  This gave them time and field position such that we almost ran out of clock to win it.  How could we not blitz in that situation given that their passing attack had showed absolutely no ability to burn us long?

We get it at about our 35 with about 1:34 to go in the first half.  Pass for about 6.  Then run Harden up the middle for about 3.  How could we possibly call a run at that point.  All we did was chew up clock, ended up punting.  Brilliant two minute drill.

These things are not lightning bolts.  These are very basic football.

We should be thinking about beating the top teams, ranked teams.  Instead we lost to NIU and just barely beat USU.

Somewhere there is a USU fan bemoaning and with a more valid arguement about how they should have won by 14.  Sure they were a five loss team to Ohio's four, gracious, they should have not shown up.

Monroe, thank goodness you are not a football coach....coaching college football is not an exact science that can be disected each second, or each play.  Your hindsight is 20/20, but the game does not unfold that way real time.  You work with hard numbers in your chosen profession that are black and white......coaching is not that simple.    Chill out and enjoy a great win by the Bobcats.  Your glass will always be half empty if all you can focus on is a mistake here or a bad decision there.......Stick to accounting and leave the coaching to the great staff that we have on the field and in the press box!!
P.S.   How about the job our coaches and kids did to bounce back from the difficult loss back in Detroit?????Much more important than any procedure penalty, or a formation or play call that you don't like or understand!

My comments were contemporaneous with the action--I identified the bad play as we went.  Also, see fielding two punts inside our own 10 yard line when behind in the fourth quarter.

Nice win.  But to not identify things that need to be corrected is to deny reality.  We didn't play to our ability yesterday.  That's my standard.  If we lose but play well, then I have no complaint.  If we make basic, obvious mistakes then I comment about that.  Though we won today, for way too much of this game we played 2nd-half-MACC ball.

For those of you who think that I complain all of the time, see my brief remarks on the hoops team's W yesterday.  We played very well.  Our defense was very, very good.

I agree Panda; there were "fans" actually calling this coaching staff a "joke"?????  Even if the team lost this game it would still be THE MOST PRODUCTIVE OFFENSE IN MORE THAN 100 YEARS OF OHIO FOOTBALL?  I feel sorry for some of these "fans"  I cant imagine the personal drama that must be a part of their daily lives.  It was a football game played by college kids.  Perfect no...but I've seen far more mishaps in a Super Bowl game.  The game is unpredictable and requires split second decision making skills.  I wonder if 2010 Defending National Champion Auburn Tigers were pleased with the last second victory vs. USU?  Then again, they were only the "defending" national champions.

A blow out bowl victory vs. Midwest Tennessee State Tech (Oxford last year)  would not have produced the same euphoria as a dramatic come from behind guts win like last night.  As a life long Bobcat fan, I ll never forget it.
