I really feel that the possession receiver gap is the biggest concern...

This. I'm not so worried about losing LaVon (yes, I realize that he is our statistically greatest WR ever) as I am about losing Riley. The dude had some just clutch catches this year, and very few drops stick out in my mind. When we needed a first down, we found Riley, and the sticks moved.

We had some success with using the TEs this year on 3rd down and near the goal line. We've got so many good TEs on the roster, too, that I could see us going more in that direction in possession passing situations. Roback could be the new Dunlop.

Bad move by Snyder.  Very unusual for the #2 not to see playing time over the course of a season.  Look at USC's history of back-ups.  There, they wait for their time and get noticed.

Has there ever been anyone in Athens who was arrested for an alcohol who was not also charged with resisting arrest or interfering with the po-lice?

It would be interesting to see a per/game comparison between Lavon and Todd Snyder.  I'm not sure what it would reveal, but these total season stats are an apples to oranges comparison because of the fewer games played "back in the day."  Without seeing these stats I would say that Lavon is definitely our best receiver since Todd, and might indeed be better.

Those comparisons are always impossible to verify, and I do think society tends to grant too much deference to contemporary players. However, it's hard to imagine that today's players are not a little better than players from 40+ years ago.

It seems today's crop of players are bigger, stronger, faster than previously. Competition may be more intense. Certainly the sport itself is far more popular today than it was then. My high school didn't even have a football team in 1968. That's virutally unheard of today.

Donte Foster is a good wr and will get better..but NO guys be serious he wont make those grabs that Lavon made nor will he ala Randy Moss {take the top off of the defense} as Lavon did many games.

My interpretation of the 1,000 yard "go to guy" seasons out of Lavon and Donte that the fans were privy to this year had more to do with tweaks in the offensive play calling from recent years where the ball was spread around to evenly to allow for a true #1 wide receiver or running  back. I totally agree that Lavon was the most impressive receiver when on the field among a group of impressive receivers for the last few seasons. I'm not too concerned about drop off at WR with Chris Murray and a JUCO stud WR signed. Foster can be that 1,000 yard guy next year in the offense with play calling to suit his strengths. In the same vein, If the staff could make Donte Harden into a 1,000 back I'm confident they could do the same with Hammonds or Blankenship for next season. The Cats have a deep enough pipeline at both WR and RB that it shouldn't be an issue.

Great reviews on the progress of N'Goumo..word is he is now healthy and has the potential to be a stud along with Landon Smith.

Frank says he's not happy with consistency shown by the returning group of WR's in the Athens Messenger. This could be a reason why we are seeing a JUCO recruit at WR next season. Also the loading up is going on with new linebackers as Frank said he wasn't happy at that position either needing someone to step up and play.

I am hoping this is a shotgun blast from coach kicking the group in the pants.  Ohio is heavily invested in WRs and someone or two need to show they can make plays.

I said before this year that the worry was d-line, not qb.  For next year, I assure you that the worry is not receiver.  Staff is right on it in seeking to upgrade at linebacker, the area in which we seem to have been the most non-difference-making over the last several years.

When we really make da jump is when we get us some disruptive defensive tackles...pass rush up the middle.
