Getting back to the topic that has so many MAC'ers concerned...."]["emple will actually be stronger in the backfield next year. The run option is better suited to the dynamic duo of QB Chris Coyer and TB Matt Brown. The recent additions of stud rb's Desmond Peoples, who is firmly committed to the Owl while Urban Meyer tries to steal his bro from Rutgers and Montel Dobbs, a National Top 15 prepster from Milford Academ,y who has opted for "]["emple's rising BCS Program instead of other quicksand BE schools

And some males--boys--wear boas and hallucinate that some miscellaneous ratings mean more than results on the field.

ah, yes, the Sagarins. I remember after OHIO beat Temple...AGAIN...I got really excited for just a moment, but then I realized I was actually sad because the concern for what the Sagarins would say two months later was just so great.

Seriously, do you have ANYTHING of any value to add? Yeah, you know how to needle and get some views on our board. Good for you. It's what we've come to expect from a run-of-the-mill attention whore. Unfortunately, your team is good for s*it, and being unable to handle that, you think that means you just have to scream louder and wave your arms a little faster. My 8 year old has a better idea of when to shut up.

Sorry - been meaning to ask... Why do you use the Texas Tech Logo?

Not sure why you label me an attn whore, i am just responding to threads that mention me and/or "]["emple.
Instead of silly remarks, you need to justify why Ohio U is satisfied playing the Gardner Webbs and NMST's, leaving them with little hand when it comes to bragging rights.

Call me MHDelighted that ESPN, the leader in sports coverage, holds the Owls inoming class in such high regards. AND it doesnt include Jordan Lucas, a fella who had 12 1A offers coming out of HS and is locked up

55, WOW, 31 commits listed and you say there is Jordan Lucas who would make 32.   32 to cover 20 seniors who would be leaving, BP would make it 21.  MH55, does that mean there will be 11 more leaving or scrubbed from the roster?  MH55, taking commits into the mid 30s each year is bad business.  Some schools/coaches operate that way, though, were I a recruit, I would know I had better make the two deep or ......

The formula has worked out quite well for us since St Al Golden began implementing this system. We develop a relationship with some players who may not be eligible. They go the prep route, make the grades then re commit. Prep school can equate to red shirting. The mission of our university is providing young people an opportunity, so im all for it. It works both ways, we also lose kids who develop into outstanding talents and go bigger Last year, a DT opted to Miami and a QB went to Florida.

Now this explanation provides a simple view of an established recruiting strategy but it still will probably produce a "boa." and a "dick." from that intellectual charcoal briquet, Munny Slavin but, we are happy. After all, we could have gone anywhere, we chose "]["emple.

The "formula" (read over signing) is unethical at best and the practice leaves kids hung out to dry routinely.  It's not about "providing young people an opportunity" it's about hedging recruiting gambles.  I would expect you to support it though, so I don't know why I'm surprised.

By the way the name of the recruit you detailed above is "Montrell" Dobbs...

Obviously the concept is another beyond your grasp, 36. It actually serves the recruit but we do appreciate your interest in Connecticut's Player of the Year

We had a long discussion about this before the season, and other than documenting that MH has very, very limited math skills, we established that each year IIemple takes well over 25 letters of intent a year because they know that many of them will not academically qualify, and will have to go the prep school or JUCO route. Also, many of them are double counted because the same name will show up in 2-3 recruiting classes.

For those interested in the original discussion, and wondering what happens to all the people when IIemple gets letters of intent from 129 people over a 5 year period, but can only have 85 on scholarship, here is the original thread.

As you can see, a lot don't qualify, while many others end up kicked off the team. It's a pretty stark contrast to Ohio,  where they average about 20-22 recruits per year. Ohio has had a few non-qualifiers go the Prep school route, and a few go the JUCO route, and had a few kicked off the team, but IIemple takes these to a whole new level. Also, Ohio tends to add a player or two from the walkon ranks that never is included in the recruiting rankings at all, but that limits the number of scholarships they can offer. I doubt IIemple does that very often, if ever.

If that's what you want to tell yourself, walk on my good man.  For the record, I have zero interest in Mr Dobbs other than the anticipation of watching him rack up consecutive losses against Ohio as he follows in the footsteps of all your other RB's.

Clearly that plan is working. How many MAC East championships has it won? How many times has that system beat Ohio?

I'll be waiting for your answer.

Most coaches will acknowledge it is not the Xs and Os, but, the Sams and the Joes.  That Ohio has done so well is largely the coaches and players now having so much time together, that the depth chart is now largely RS Jrs. & Srs.  The Temple plan will produce an increasing quality of athletes on the roster, how they come together is on the coaches.

According to the MAC, "]["emple has won 1, we were co champions with Ohio U. Ohio U won the right to represent the East in the CC because of a tie breaker. Teaching you stumps about your own conference can become tedious. Probably gonna check off for a while, this is like trying to explain quantum cosmology to a school of goldfish

Mark, you might want to keep in mind that the popularity of your posts has little to do with intellectual brilliance or an occasional burst of insight.  Rather it's their amusement value.

you can set your watch to Temple, every year its the same tired story-

- The off season is full of bragging about some website that said Temple has the best recruiting class in the history of recruiting classes.
- Then some other website picks Temple to FINALLY win the MAC East this year because "they have a good feeling about it" and "it's their time".
- Then the season begins and there's a bunch of excitement about playing a local DII team. (and attendance was up and it wasn't the other teams' fans, honest!)
- Then Temple beats some marginal BCS team which sets off endless talks about moving to a BCS conference and lamenting about how bad the MAC is because its killing attendance and blah blah blah.
- Conference play begins and Temple gets a few wins vs the bottom of the MAC, further extending the false sense of entitlement and superiority.
- And then Temple plays OHIO and BOOM!... your season is over.
- Mass hysteria breaks out and its freak out time until the end of bowl season where we go straight back to the top and repeat.

Congrats on your superior recruiting class. i look forward to hearing (again) about how you're going to finally win the East this year.
