I'm sure the schedule will continue to have a money game, two 1-1 games, and an FCS game, because the economics dictate that. Getting the program to a point where they can get BCS 1-1 games, instead of just Marshall, NMSU, Wyoming, Ragin Cajus, etc. was not something that happened overnight. I'm sure not all the 1-1 series will be with BCS teams, but hopefully a number of them will be.

Where to from here? At this point the next step is to continue to build home attendance to the point where all the games are sold out, and then raise prices somewhat. After that other things would be to expand the stadium, then eventually eliminate the money game, and end up with 7 home games a year. Will Ohio continue down that path? How far? Time will tell.

This really is the next logical step. You schedule like we have for the past 5+ years to build the program. You play the one money game to get the money, then you schedule 3 winnable games. At that time, those were FCS schools and the LaTech/New Mexico/Wyoming type schools. You get to bowls and you win one. We have a solid base and are pulling better and better recruits every season.

Now they are ready to step up the competition a little. Now with bowls in the last 3 seasons and being considered now one of the better programs in the MAC you can target low level BCS conference teams. Those teams are more willing to play you now. Thanks to MACtion we are getting enough publicity that they can schedule these home games and with the lower level BCS teams. Those low level BCS teams have trouble selling out, so they know if they bring in a FCS school it is hard for them to sell out their games, also if they schedule other BCS teams they have a chance for a loss. They now feel Ohio can provide a lil bump in attendence and a good chance of victory (joke is on them when we beat them)

This should work to help build the program up that we can consistently get mid-low BCS conference teams to come to Peden. I just hope that when Solich steps down in X years, we pick the right coach to take that next bigger step when we play these teams.

Exactly, Piney, it has been a long series of little steps:
1. Steady progress in performance.
2. Steady increase in quality of recruits.
3. Steady increase in visibility

Most schools don't allow the time for all the pieces to come together, and the end result is that they fall flat. Contrast Ohio with Miami, for example. They have played the BCS games, but without the steady progress in performance they haven't been competitive, and the net result has been steps in the wrong direction.

You are right that the future is uncertain, and that with the wrong coach things could unravel, just as the progress that Grobe made unraveled. It doesn't have to, though, and hopefully it won't. Go Ohio.

Are there economical ways (revs > costs) to add (rent?) temp stands at any of the gaps...without it looking minor league?

The whole end zone looks minor league right now.  Would love to see us get the $$ to wrap Peden around in that endzone.
