At least someone at OHIO was willing to throw down. Because, our team really wasn't.

LOL....Rufus just bounced off Brutus.  I saw it happen and thought it was odd and aggressive "play" on Rufus part, but forgot about it until this thread.  What an embarrassment.

Ol' Stoney wouldn't have acted the fool. He'd just do his best to support the boys on the field and be loved by the Ohio fans in the stands.

I'm not sure that Stoney was all that agile, or quick on his feet. Seems like it would have been hard for him to run or tackle very effectively.

FYI...the woman in my avatar is Francesca Maria Femia Hahn.  She was the original bobkitten, a role she played - wittily and faux flirtatiously - for three football seasons in the '60s.  She was a class act - which she has remained after dealing with health-related challenges for more than 40 years.

This is ridiculous.  He needs removed from his role immediately.  Seriously, what a loser.

Ol' Stoney wouldn't tackle at all. He might have shared his special brownies with Brutus. Ol' Stoney was a friend indeed.

Wow this is really a shame. Up until now I thought everything the mascot did was in good taste. The Victor E. Bull bit was initiated with the red cape prop and Victor started running at Rufus so I thought it was fine and I loved it. I thought it was great in the Championship game how Rufus appeared in the background during the CMU coach's interview. But, I don't see the point of going after the opposing team's mascot when they are coming in with the team. That is a moment for the team and the fans that I think you should respect.

Or creepily rubbed your back, as I happen to know he did (to President McDavis no less) during a Mens Basketball Game during the '04-'05 season. That one-time bobcat went onto be a TV weatherman on a local station

Like most of the sane fans on this board, I agree that the mascot's performance Saturday was in poor taste and showed very poor sportsmanship. It is a disgrace to the great people I know who have served as Mr. Bobcat in previous years. Maybe that's the difference. High standards for a friendly Mr. Bobcat mascot vs. wild and crazy for the Rufus mascot.

To turn this to a lighter note, one of my favorite Mr. Bobcat moments was when the mascot was chasing the Eastern Michigan Eagle around the Convo with a KFC bucket and a giant fork.

I agree, BUSH LEAGUE. That knucklehead in the costume needs to be replaced immediately. The biggest stage we'll get all season and our mascot has to act like a boob. Grow up. What if Brutus ran out and tackled Rufus at Peden?! This is sad and embarassing.

Couldn't agree more...That kid needs to be removed immediately.  As hard as it is for me to say, a formal apology should be sent to the A&M AD's office as well...

anorris, that one completely flew over your head. Search the band threads regarding people wanting the 110 to do things on the field to one up TBDBITL.
I've read them... my point was, the 110 could've lined up and passed wind and it would've been a better show.

Brandon Hanning was the young man, was bragging about his beatdown of Brutus on his facebook page, real proud of himself.

I'd still love to know what the hell he was thinking. If he's bragging about it on FB, my take is the punishment wasn't harsh enough, and I'd be inclined to agree with those talking about an assault charge, or at least tossing him in front of judiciaries.

Edited to say: Or, does anybody remember The Simpsons where Bart disgraces Australia and the Prime Minister gets to kick him in the butt with a big boot? Tell me that wouldn't at least make a funny photo op if you sub in Brutus as the booter and this schmuck as the bootie...

The more I think about it, the more I agree that this kid should get kicked out of school. Not for fighting, but for stupidity. There's got to be at least 12 inches of foam rubber there. You're not going to do any damage punching him in the face like that. You've got to remember that buckeyes are tough nuts to crack [cue Fozzie Bear....]

Also, a co-worker/Marshall fan just said that he welcomes Rufus to do this to Marco this Saturday. He's hoping that the new Marco costume will be so trashed that they have to go back to the old Marco.

I'm sorry, but that is just rude.  I am a former member of TBDBITL.  Both bands are excellent organizations and both schools are very pround that they represent their universities.  I am very proud that I was in The OSUMB as I'm sure you are proud that you were in the 110.  Lets leave it at that.

His facebook profile is blocked to those who aren't his friends.

However, his profile picture is of him standing in the 'Shoe (not wearing Ohio apparel) and one of the likes listed in his profile is.......Ohio State Football.  (Along with Cincinnatti and finally Ohio Bobcats)

Anorris wasn't in, and doesn't speak for the 110.

I will say that anyone making jokes about Scooby Do and the TBDBITL halftime show, probably wasn't there for pregame. I was very impressed with the pregame show, and thought that the entire thing was very, very cool / well done, and beyond what I'm used to seeing at Ohio games.

From a halftime perspective, the cartoon thing wasn't my cup of tea, but what tbdbitl says above is exactly right. Both bands are excellent organizations that represent their schools very well.
