Yuck. By all means let's resurrect the symbol of the darkest decades of Ohio football.

The over under is being bet down and the line up. The implied score is now 36-9.

What a waste of money to paint those helmets with the most generic of all logos.  Except for the colors, it looks like the Trimbile High School helmet and about 1,000 other high schools in the country.  Well, at least Alan Swank will be happy.  Me not so much.

The 1968 "Football" Ohio logo is my all or nothing throwback choice.

I've been through enough homecoming let downs in Peden Stadium, I'll just take a W and move on. I don't care by how much. I view football games as an Ohio fan much the way people talk about NCAA basketball tourney games: survive and advance.

On one hand I agree, on the other I want to see Rourke and Wigs break some school records.

Kurtis:
Currently 3rd in career passing yards (6,053)
Roughly 3,000 yards behind Tettleton for #1. About 1,400 yards behind Nathan.

3rd in passing touchdowns (44)
16 TD behind Nathan, 23 behind Tettleton

Wigs:
Currently Tied-7th for TD (12) - Foster #1 with 21, McCrae #2 with 19
Needs 600 yards to move into Top 10 all-time receiving yards

I had this comment last year. The paw corresponds almost exactly to the era between Hess and Grobe. Other sports had some success with it. Football? Not so much. But, I'm the rational sort. I'm not superstitious at all. I'm not worried about anything like that. I actually wondered if this is why they had never used it as a throwback until last year. More likely, those of us that went to Ohio in the 80's and early 90's didn't count as much part of the old fart crowd that they were trying to appeal to with homecoming throwbacks until recently.

I think that they are just the normal green helmets with a different decal. At least that's my guess. Still some effort from the equipment staff but I doubt that the cost is staggering.

I was in school when we switched from the paw to the attack cat and as with any change some people complained. Some of my professors said that when they came to Athens from some other school one of their first thoughts was how generic and unintimidating the logo was. My guess is that a lot of people outside OU saw it that way. One Toledo fan made this reply to that homecoming helmet post on twitter.

You realize that is not paint right? They make these things called decals, it's really cool, it's got sticky stuff on the back and you can just apply them.

Personally, I think the paw is fine. I do think I prefer this year's green helmet w/ white paw print over the white helmet w/ green paw print we've used previously.

Without a doubt my favorite throwback helmet is the 1968 outline Ohio helmet. It represents one of our most successful eras, so why not? In fact, though I think the standard arch Ohio helmet is just fine, I'd be thrilled to see the '68 design become our new primary helmet. It would also look great on apparel. Idk why we don't use it more.

Anyway, I'm set to come down for the homecoming game. This will be the first game I make it to since I graduated over 5 years ago, so I'm beyond excited! I was hoping to make it down for Iowa St. but obligations got in the way.

Well, somebody has to make those decals, right? And, they aren't free, right? Any money spent on these helmets is too much in my book, unless Alan Swank paid for it out of his own pocket.

I still have a paw sweatshirt, although I don't wear it often because it got to be too cliche. Seems like every school with a cat or dog mascot had a paw logo. The Attack Cat and the arched "Ohio" logos are uniquely Ohio.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The cost of 200 paw decals was probably literally less than $1000. I don't know the details but they probably need to replace a dozen or two decals every week anyway. If it sells a dozen more tickets and tee-shirts and sweaters than they otherwise would have then they are probably at least breaking even on that. Relative to the cost of the rest of the player equipment and the upkeep of the football facilities this is almost negligible.

I think it's real interesting that the spread has not changed at all.
Kent must really be awful.

Decals more like $2 a pair, so they have less than 500 in this endeavor for homecoming and something many alumni actually like.

I just ordered 500 Reward Helmet decals and it cost 16 bones. Cool one game change for pennies. All for the recruit pics anyway. Who know maybe it leads to a recruit from Ohio in this class?

Ouch! When they do this it usually means the player is out for the year. Harris was removed for the BG notes. I haven't heard if that is the case with Williams.

I believe Albin said in this weeks presser that Mason Williams will have surgery and is out for the year.

This makes it more important to have a big day rushing. Would really like to see a couple hundred yds from the running game.

I'm partial to the Paw since I got it tattooed on my ankle the day I earned my MA. Took me a long time to warm up to the Attack Cat which I now like better, but have avoided that tat. Will be fun to see the paw for 1 game.

This game should not be close. I think with the week off that Kurtis is ready to let things loose. 35-9 Cats.

I think you are being way too conservative. That's my prediction for halftime!

Fewer than 1600 tickets left and on the ticket site, the tower side is essentially gone and both wings look more than half full. Top 10 Peden attendance?
