How come we haven't heard from any Penn State fans about game one?

Could it be:

A.  All of the changes are new and their heads are spinning.

B. They have this game down as a win no matter what.

C. If their best players leave they'll reconsider.

D. Other.

I don't know, but I for one am going to make a concerted effort to avoid giving them antagonizing material on BA (no need to add motivation to either the fans or the players).

To any Penn Staters reading this: Wouldn't worry about the Bobcats, we're your typical MACcupcake. I would devote 100% of your prep and film time between now and September 1st to studying and preping for UVA.

I am surprised the sane Penn State fans haven't come over here to try to talk about the game and get away from the craziness on their own boards. But then again, they probably are assuming everyone will troll them about the scandal.

But right now, it appears most PSU fans are blaming everyone else but the person they need to blame for this mess. They have basically become a deranged cult thinking the world is against them and they are still above everyone else.

I really feel for any Ohio fans that make this trip. IT WILL BE UGLY when Ohio wins as I do fear for their safety.

I have to agree. Seems Penn Staters are trying to take on the martyr role.

How often do we open with an opponent with Penn State's tradition and sheer volume?

I imagine Penn State Fan doesn't want to leave his own friendly confines. Don't blame him. They have a lot more to worry about that us right now.

I think they're still licking their wounds.  It's been less than a week since the hammer and they're still coming to grips with the sanctions and the potential loss of key players.  I imagine we'll start seeing them around Aug. 15.

That was a serious question. Maybe you've been to PSU fora (I haven't) and have picked up on that. Either way, I don't know what bug has been up your butt the last couple months.

Who pissed in your wheaties Doc?

In all honesty they probably are overlooking us, but that is basically because they have so much on their plate at the moment. They have the sanctions they are dealing with, rumors of transfers, rumors the whole team is sticking together. Then when they talk about the season they are just saying we will go undefeated and prove everyone wrong type of attittude. And the games they are concentrating on are Big 10 teams that are trolling their message boards right now.

Maybe once their camp is in full swing and the transfers are known they will start looking at their first game. AND THEN they will probably overlook us as an easy win. Unless of course they have 10-20 transfers, then they might look at us more seriously.

Yeah I totally meant it too about putting it on a shirt. It wasn't drawing a parallel to the PSU T-Shirt or anything.

It's no less tasteful than the Penn State fans are being. It's like they completely forget that their coaching staff was, at the absolute best, idle while a longtime assistant coach was committing child rape in team facilities.

45 counts -- guilty. Bash the Freeh report all you want, you can't get around 45. How many could the school have prevented? We'll never know. How many other crimes committed under the umbrella of Second Mile (no way Sandusky was the only sicko involved there, none) could have been prevented? We'll probably never know that either since no one in State College seems to be trying to answer that question.

Which is the point. This wasn't just a Sandusky problem, or a PSU problem. Rape College is a small town, and you can't tell me kids didn't talk or try to tell people what was happening to them. We may never know the true depths of the cover up and corruption in that town that kept the lid on things for so long. This should have been a story a decade ago, and through the efforts of townspeople, it wasn't.

So if people don't like me using the term to describe the town, then the problem isn't with me, but with your delusion that the town wasn't in on it. Who's going to be the Sergeant Nicholas Angel and blow the roof off the place (and find the swan)?

Sorry that honest discussion of a sensitive issue bothers you.

Should have known a friend of mine -- a gay guy from small town South Carolina -- would have a thicker skin than this board. He thought it was hilarious. I've got a joke about Joe Paterno and the Knights of Columbus that I'm sure would get the same thin-skinned people in an uproar too.

I guess you think all those kids in Second Mile that were abused never said anything to anyone in State College, ever. Of course they did. And they were ignored or dismissed or it was swept under the rug. But it's a crime for me to use the R word to describe what amounts to a municipal cover up in the town containing the university for which Sandusky worked.

Beam me up.

The whole point of the argument is not your points.  You want to argue that the cover up was bigger than what the Freeh report had said?  Fine.  You want to call Penn State fans dillusional for justifying Paterno?  Fine.  You want to call an entire school "Rape College?"  Not cool.

Heck, even Jeff Ross on a Comedy Central Roast apologized for making fun of Penn State.

I think the PSU penalties were appropriate.  I think PSU had a total loss of institutional control probably not equaled in the history of American academe.  However, to call PSU "Rape U" is ridiculous.  And, to implicate the city government is likewise not warranted, at least in terms of the facts that have thus far been revealed.  If you know anything about child sexual abuse, you know that the victims are so ashamed that they very seldom say anything about it until they develop other psychological problems (usually as a result of the repression of the sexual abuse) and it finally comes out in therapy by sensitive questioning at the hands of a very well-trained and astute mental health professional.  As I said in a previous post, this happened to a member of my extended family and I've witnessed the tremendous devastation that this type of abuse can have on a young man.  Sandusky is a monster, and all such monsters need to be exposed and punished as soon as there is evidence of their molestation activities.  The coverup for about a dozen years at PSU is just totally unconscionable.

Edit:  OK, I just reread your posts and I see that "Rape College" is suppose to refer to "State College" and not PSU.  My comments still stand.  You have no evidence that the victims were talking about this and that city officials were part of the coverup.  This is a very bad situation, but your slanderous comments do nothing to enlighten and only serve to inflame and hurt.
