4th and 2 on Penn State's 27 yard line..and you attempt a field goal.

This one is on Frank.

You have nothing to lose and you can kick a field goal with guy who doesn't make many from over 40.

Will never understand.

Do you really want to start?

Not starting..just saying you have to go for it there. Glad it didn't come back to haunt.

Great win Bobcats!

I trust coach's feel for when and where. "You" might have to go from there. I will not second guess coaches Solich/Albin/Gdowski. I know they know a great deal more about this game than I ever will.  Course you probably do know more than they.  You should e-mail them your thoughts and they would likely apprciate your ideas for the next game too.

It it worth pointing out that early in the 3rd quarter, PSU had a very similar situation, 4th and 5 at the Ohio 30, and went for it, and ended with nothing. I agree with both decisions, by the way. Ohio has one of the best kickers in the country, though he didn't look it today, so generally you take the points. PSU has an unknown kicker, so you go for it.

Must be brutal on the Penn State boards now.

Indeed. The consensus is that the loss had nothing to do with Ohio, and was all the fault of PSU coaches and/or the NCAA. There are a few that have congratulated Ohio. If you want the tone, this thread will give you the idea. The thread is that "PSU is not that bad, Ohio is that good" Here's a sample from that thread:

"Are you kidding me? Ohio is TERRIBLE"
"Ohio is going to be a 10 win + team"
"IN THE MAC!!!!!!  That doesnt make ANYONE a good team!!!!"
"How many of us would be grateful to trade McGloin even up for the QB from Ohio? "
"Look at Ohio.. THEY WERE TERRIBLE. "
(love this next one- heehee)
"Ohio is Michigan's biggest rival, so they must be a decent team. "
(buy that man a drink)
"Thanks for the encouragement. I too think Ohio is a good team."
"you guys are literally insane if you think Ohio is any good.  Their QB threw like a friggen lady, and their RB was slow and crap. "
"They are well-coached, you can see that.  And they're picked to win their conference even if that conference is the MAC."
"How good is that good?  Good enough to win the MAC yes.  Unfortunately we play in the Big Ten.  The only consolation for me was I got an opportunity to coach Ohio's starting right tackle down the road at Hollidaysburg.  Ryan played well congrats to him and his family"
"Ohio really is a good football team.  Props are due them."
"Ohio was a below average team and would be .500 at best in the Big Ten."
"Keep drinking the kool-aid Wickerman. Ohio is a terrible team. Your so-called great staff got their behinds kicked. That Penn State team was not ready and for that the COACHES are to blame."
"Truth be told, we really don't know how good/bad PSU is till after a couple more games. "
'Anyone who thinks OU is a below average team or that PSU was going to have an easy time has absolutely no concept of evaluating talent. There is a reason that Ohio is being talked about as a "BCS buster".'

So, as you see, there are a few that give some props to Ohio, and even on a thread that was intended to do that, many blame the PSU coaches. The flavor of most of the other threads is worse.

Seriously, dude? A person can't make one comment? If you respect the coaching staff so much, you should know they don't need you White Knighting them. Calm down.

the only time i semi got upset was on the second and goal - we snapped it with like 30 seconds still left on the play clock - and then Beau fell down - i know Tyler was trying to catch them sleeping but I felt like running the clock was more important - it reminded me of a couple of time management issues at the end of last year.

End of the day - I'm a fan - i root - good bad or indifferent.
I let the coaches coach, players play - and enjoy watching.

Great day

enjoying it

Other than the first quarter, I pretty much enjoyed the game.  And, I am happy to say I was one who thought PSU would cover the thread-by 7-10 points.  Glad I was wrong!
