I ran across this short clip today of a
PSU scrimmage. The production quality isn't quite what we're used to, but I do offer them credit for using fast-forward editing to give the illusion of a quick offense. It looks like they have some trouble keeping the RBs contained, even though they seem to get tripped up on first touch. The D-line looks awfully soft, DBs can't tackle in open field, and the whole team seems to be incredibly flat for a game-like scrimmage.
That's funny because it was produced by the PSU Sports Information Department. They'll appreciate your critique.
As for your thoughts, we don't really know to argue. Practices are more open than before, but with so many new faces in new places, we won't know everything until 9/1.
What we do know ...
- The starting RB is a converted WR. He's quick but isn't a typical PSU power runner.
- Our DL and LB are the strength of the team, with preseason All Big Ten types on each group. If the DL looks soft, I will be happy because the OL must be coming together.

- DBs are a question mark. We have some injuries in an already shallow group. We'll be playing true freshmen. The starters may be on light contact to reduce injury risk (I hope).
We are not where we'll be after six games. New players, new staff, new system. An experienced team like the Cats definitely wants to get the Lions right out of the gate.
