Arguably OUr most important in about 44 years.

bonus question:  how come Modell's family asked to have the Browns' recognition ceremony cancelled?

Anyone think there's a chance this gets picked up for tv and ESPN3 before I subscribe for the monthly access and then spend the following four months trying to cancel my subscription?

It will not be on ESPN3. CUSA's TV contracts are through Fox & CBS. It might end up on Fox College or CSS, but its kind of close for that.

Doesn't Marshall have a TV contract with the Fox station out of Huntington to cover the game?

Too close to game time. If it was going to be on somewhere, we'd know by now.

Ranked #1 in the Nation in passing offense through two games?

Marshall's Thundering Herd averaging 421 yards per contest; 6 TD passes to 1 INT

Ranked #4 in the Nation is QB Rakeem Cato of Marshall with a rating of 157!

Will the D be up to the great challenge of shutting down this potent attack?

Cato is ranked #28 in Pass efficiency at 158.46. (Note - TT is #17 at 168.76, Manley of NMSU drops to is #13, he was #1 last week)

Both schools have a good offense: Marshall is #6 in Total Offense, Ohio is #14.

Ohio, has better defensive stats. For Total Defense, Marshall is #110, but Ohio is #22, and for Pass Efficiency Defense, Marshall is #87, while Ohio is #27.

I think it is. The first two games of the season have been against teams at both ends of the extremes. Against then #11 WVU and against Western Carolina, an FCS team that hasn't won a game against an FCS opponent in a couple of years. Cato threw for 413 against WVU(362 against 1st and 2nd teamers) and 377 in three quarters against WCU. Running game is still a bit of a question mark as carries have been split between four backs. Tron Martinez is likely out still recovering from off-season knee surgery. Offense has definitely improved.

The defense is still... eh. Stunk it up against WVU but played well last night until the game got out of hand. They gave up some junk stuff late. In both games the defense has committed stupid penalties that have extended drives for the opposing offense. Hopefully that's not a developing trend.

An up and coming mid-major program on the cusp of being ranked, I think this game is a good measuring stick for Holliday and his staff and the program at this juncture.

Very surprised at line if 6 to 7 points if true (haven't seen a line other than what's posted here).  I'm usually decent at guessing spreads and though I know little about Marshall, I guessed somewhere around a PIck em' game.  Actually thought it could be like Marshall -1 too.  Whatever the case, a toss-up game.  Never would've guessed 7 points.  I was way wrong and hope Vegas is correct.

Defense.  Takeaways and no turnovers.  Kicking game must develop.

According to the papers out here in NJ the family was afraid there would be a "negative reaction" from Cleveland fans.

I was a little surprised myself. I thought we'd be favored, but only by 3 or something.

$$$

We're really good this year, nobody is denying that, but outside of Athens and Huntington, this doesn't seem like a game that would garner huge ratings for ESPN and the other networks.

Plus, blame C-USA's TV contracts for keeping this off ESPN3 and forcing everyone to buy a month subscription to watch it online.

It appears were are pretty healthy going into this game ie. no major issues after last week.
Our confidence is strong.
We play better on both sides of the ball then Marshall.
Our O is more diversified than Marshall.
We have a better Coach.
Marshall may have had this game circled on their calanders since last years loss but we will rise to the occasion as to demonstrate that the tide of power in this rivalry has moved from Huntington to Athens.

Ohio has slowly been exorcising demons of the last 30-40 years. Once upon a time they had trouble beating Fiami, going 3-17-1 between 1985 and 2005, but since then they are dominating the series with 6 consecutive wins. The next demon to go was that they hadn't gone to a bowl since 1968. Last year they eliminated the demon of never having won a bowl game.

From 1985-2010 the record against Marshall is 2-12, another demon. Last year Ohio broke out with a win, but that isn't enough to clear the demon. To do that they need a win in Huntington. For this week that is the most important goal. Later, they can worry about the next demon, the lack of a Mac Championship since 1968.

My prediction is that both teams come out fired up, and it is a very hard fought game early on. I think it will be close for awhile, and both teams will put points on the board. As the game wears on, Ohio's offensive line will wear down the Marshall D, and they will outscore Marshall for the win. I think Ohio's defense will give up some points, but they will also get a few key stops, enough to put the Bobcats on top. I predict a final score of Ohio 45, Marshall 27.

OHIO VS. MARSHALL | TALE OF THE TAPE

OHIO (MAC RANK) OFFENSE MARSHALL (C-USA RANK)

37.5 (2nd) POINTS/GAME 43.0 (1st)

541.5 (2nd) TOTAL YARDS/GAME 580.0 (1st)

234.0 (3rd) RUSH YARDS/GAME 158.5 (5th)

307.5 (1st) PASS YARDS/GAME 421.5 (1st)

                             DEFENSE

19.0 (1st) POINTS/GAME 46.5 (11th)

279.0 (5th) TOTAL YARDS/GAME 495.0 (8th)

81.5 (2nd) RUSH YARDS/GAME 237.5 (5th)

197.5 (11th) PASS YARDS/GAME 257.5 (8th)

Seems everyone is calling this a tight game because Marshall has some great offensive stats.  Please check the defensive stats.  Seems to me Marshall should hope to finish the game with an avg pts per game against under 50.  I am suggestin Ohio might equal WVU's 69.
