I hope this garners Ohio some votes in the polls.

Oddly on Friday night I found myself rooting against Boise State vs. Michigan State. I usually always root for the "little guy" non-AQ team. I guess want them eliminated.

I usually pull for MSU.  First, they're green & white.  Second, they don't seem to have that Big Tedozen full of it attitude.

I was thinking about the Top 25 awhile ago.  NIU may be the only team among the "Others receiving votes" in either poll that will lose this weekend, so votes may be at a premium.

Heh. A good friend of mine went to Michigan State. I remember talking March Madness with him back in 2006. And I'll never forget these words: "Do you really think we're going to lose to George Mason?"

I would like to think we earned some votes but Im afraid they'll be few and far between.  A lot of people will see this and think only that PSU is really worse off than they thought as opposed to "Ohio's really good".   Ironically this "mindset" is going to be encouraged by the 21 unanswered points and the second half stats. Our guys made them look as bad as some feared they would be.

We will definitely get SOME votes...how many is hard to say. The key is to win the next 2. If we defeat both NMSU and Marshall to get to 3-0, I don't see any way that we're not top 25. By that point, enough other teams will be dropped down through attrition.

Picking MSU to go to the Final Four that year is far and away the stupidest bracket move I've ever made

I'm not sure Ohio will get any votes for Top 25 yet, or not. If the votes went to 30, I'm sure they would get some, however. They are getting very close.

Sagarin rated us 84 before the game, RPI 44.
There will be big moves for next week.
I do believe we will receive votes in the TOP 25 but not crack the TOP 25.
Lets just keep moving forward guys.

I agree that we will get some votes. For non-BCS teams the toughest part can get be just getting on the radar. Well we took care of that yesterday and now the climb begins. How high can we go? Who knows.

@Marshall is going to be a tough game. They are going to be fired up after the beatdown they took last year.

This is not the official AP poll as it has not been released yet.

However, Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland PD released his individual ballot via Cleveland.com

He ranked Ohio 23rd.

For the full ballot, follow the link.

Interesting that he ranks us #23, but in his explanation of the rankings, he has us at #24.

Yup...That game is the linchpin to the season.  In reality, they have more than one beatdown coming their way...We have a lot to make up for!

Thankfully though, you can tell the team isn't looking ahead...Let's get us some Aggies!

10 points in the AP, good for "34th," if you will.

I read a couple other articles from guys with AP votes who had us as "others I considered" but none that actually had us top 25.  Just keep winning!!!

ESPN's Power Rankings has us in at 32 this week.

And we got 11 points in the USA Today poll, good for 37th.

Texas St. might have beaten a better team than we did.

The difference might be Texas St caused the opposing offensive coordinator to resign, but the offensive coordinator at Penn St is still there.

Oh, wait, Penn St's OC is also the coach.  Never mind.

2 years ago, after Case Keenum got hurt for the year, Houston did nothing. And now that he's graduated, Houston is doing nothing.

Heard an interesting discussion this week on ESPN (I think) about why some of the voters vote the way they do.  The AP poll is mostly media types, so it tends to be a little screwier than the USAT coaches poll.  Apparently, one of the AP voters let it be known that he doesn't look at a team's overall performance or strengths but instead casts his vote based on the matchups for that week.  Last week, he apparently thought Texas St's win over Houston was huge (must be a Texas St. grad) 'cause he ranked Texas St 16th in the country.  That's how Texas St got ten points in that poll; apparently nobody else even ranked them. And they didn't show up at all in the USAT poll.  Wonder if he'll put La-Monroe in the top ten after beating Arkansas tonight.

I would guess that Ohio garnered broader support in the polls last week and should do even better in the AP Poll based on tonight's win, plus losses by NC, Utah and Wash.  And Ohio could move up in the USAT poll because of losses by Wash, Utah, Auburn and maybe Mizzou.

A penn state win (even as ugly as it would have been) would have helped on this front, probably good for an extra dozen votes or so
