We are a 15 point favorite. That's a couple of points less than I would have guessed.

Miami just beat them 34-21.

I wouldn't bet my house on it.

I'll quit trying to predict vegas, I guess because I'm just so wrong. But I'll still act surprised by that spread. WMU moved the ball quite well against Miami but wasn't finishing drives. Miami got a garbage time TD when the game was decided after a WMU 4th quarter failure down one score. I expect the spread to tighten at least a bit though as bets come in on WMU.

or probably not

Why is this a another darn noon kickoff? [error deleted] This is the worst possible time from a fan perspective, and to top it off O$U-PSU kicks off at the same time. The AD's office is asleep at the switch once again.

This is CBS Sports game, not ESPN+

But yes, noon is a shit start going up against yucks game. Combined with our loss last week and our fickle fans, it's going to be a crappy crowd me thinks.

We'll be there, regardless of start time or what's going on with the team from Columbus. Weather forecast looks unpleasant, although it may change between now and then.

2.5 hour drive, time for tailgating, and noon start DO make for an 0 Dark 30 departure, potentially to sit in the rain during the game. I married well.

I stand corrected on that. Should have looked at the top post in the thread. I can't believe CBS Sports wants this game, but they do. And, why would CBS Sports want to have our game on at the same time as O$U? Makes not sense to me. Maybe there's a Miami alumnus making the call. Seems like a good time for a conspiracy theory of some sort! ;-)

CBSSN saves the noon kickoff time for Army home games, but this week Army is playing at LSU. When Army's on the road, they plug in UConn, UMass or the MAC. UConn plays at 3:30 vs USF and UMass is off this week. Come to think of it, UMass i off most every week. :) So they picked a significant MAC game. They don't care what other games are played at the same time. They just want to fill the time slot with a watchable game.

Oh yeah... this gonna be friends + family Tuesday night in November crowd.

Unfortunate. We still have a shot at 9-2, and an outside shot at the MAC East if Toledo does us some favors, but with all the expectations and wins we should've had, it feels like 2-9. I certainly hope they feel anger in the lockeroom and this fuels a win streak.

I think you've got that right. Only way to salvage this would be to offer a tuition give away. And, then be smart about it and not announce the winner until the 4th quarter.

It is not the athletics department that is setting the time this week for the noon kickoff. It is CBSSN. And that is a good idea on the free tuition.

Just want to make sure I didn’t miss something. If we win out with what’s left in the regular season we are at least MAC East co-champions and playing in the title game. We don’t need help from anyone, Toledo or anybody else. Is that correct?

I think this is the second time you have pointed out that Army home games are aired on CBSSN at noon (or maybe it was someone else posting this last week). Then I noticed that Army played Troy at home on CBSSN this past weekend at 3:30. This is off of some foggy memory, so please correct if necessary.

It is up to 16.5.

Miami was only a 7.5 point favorite because WMU was at home. I suspect that oddsmakers probably once again consider Toledo the best team in the MAC after Ohio probably had been for the last several weeks. After a 10 point loss it is probably very, very close between Ohio and Miami but I'd think that Ohio is still second. At any rate, unless there is reason to change after Saturday's results we'll still be slightly favored at home on the 28th.

You're right. That was Army's homecoming so they probably convinced CBS to have the 3:30 start to make room for their other homecoming events. All the rest of their home games are on CBSSN at noon.

WMU has lost 2 out of their last 3 so they do not have any winning trend coming into this week's game. Their D allows their opponent to score points. It appears to me that they are disorganized both with their O and D game plan.

I watched part of their game against Miss State, which they lost 41-28. They moved the ball pretty well, and failed to score in red zone at times, or the score would have been a lot closer. I think that their offense is pretty good, and we'll have to have our A game from the D in order to come out on top.

Don't believe it's an outside shot, but rather a pretty straightforward one. If we win out, we win the East. This would have both Miami and OHIO with one loss, but we would have the win over Miami to move us ahead of them. Saturday's loss was unfortunate, but not a death knell.

Anyone know something?

I've given up hoping that our offense will improve. We're seven games into the season and we still have the same issues we had early on -- a running game that doesn't dominate and a passing game with no deep threat. In MAC-only games, we're somehow fourth in scoring, but we've racked up points against the 8th and 11th teams in scoring defense. NIU is 4th in scoring defense and we were stymied in the second half. Solich always said that scoring 24 pts should win most games. Our offense has hit that mark only three times this season.

We should score plenty this week against WMU's worst-in-the-MAC defense (38.7 ppg) but then come MOFO's defense (#1) and Buffalo's (#3). Slog games. We should score more vs CMU (#7) and Akron (#10). But we've always had trouble beating CMU, even at home. We can expect maybe two more wins from our offense (WMU and Akron). The defense will have to carry the load in the other games.

Sounds reasonable to me. We are at home. We look like a much better team. We should win this one. This is far from a guarantee and WMU is better than prognosticated in the preseason but this is a game that, unlike NIU or Miami, it would be very surprising if we didn't get a win.

17 is what I guessed on Sunday morning though I failed to post my guess this week. The Kent State line opened at 24.5, went as high as 27, and fell back to 25 so we'll have to see if it stays this high.
