You and others are probably some of the same people who used to criticize Frank for being conservative and not winning enough, along with Jimmy Burrow not being aggressive enough on defense. Not to mention criticizing Albin for his predictable ten win season offenses and Coach Smith for not running the ball enough. Yep all those coaches did nothing to put Bobcat football on the map. Coach Isphording has developed some very good QBs in Athens the last several seasons. But maybe you forget the wonderful days of Cleve and Lichty?
Yes, Isphording has done a great job with QBs. Even since he arrived, we've seen quarterbacks improve during their time Athens, leaving as a better QB than they arrived. Two great examples were the Rourkes, who both improved substantially, but it's not limited to them. Under the prior QB coach, QBs pretty much stayed the same.
Isphording may or may not do a good job calling plays, but I certainly won't criticize him before hand. Give him a shot.
