I love their QB, had family who went to UVA so I watched him a few times the last few years. He's like Parker on crack. Better arm, better passer not as good of a runner - but does run really well. Had 600+ yards rushing this season and 9 TD, to go with 3300 passing (23 td).

Fun Fact: The leading receiver and leading rusher are both named Jaden. (One spelled Jai'Den)

Not So Fun Fact: Back-up QB is Alex Orji of Michigan fame.

UNLV is legit and they will be tough, but I get a strong feeling that they're beatable here.

UNLV can put up points, but we've proven to do that as well.

My safe guess is that this game will come down to which defense will make more plays to slow down the opposing offense just enough.

Why do parents do dumb shit like this? You've sentenced the kid to a lifetime of specifying the spelling of his first name.

UNLV has not scored less than 29 points in any game this year, so I’m giving that as their minimum that they’re going to score against us. Can we keep up?

I am pessimistic on this one. UNLV is a solid team. Our offense down the stretch did not instill much confidence. I would've set the line at more like UNLV -7.5.

Hopefully that Bobcat Bowl magic will carry us once again.

You mean you're not planning on naming a son Jackmerius Tacktheritrix?

Right before my daughter was delivered, the nurse asked what her name was and when we told her she responded "Oh, that's like a normal name."

It doesn't hurt to be at least a little more optimistic.

Because you never know what team exactly shows up for a bowl game.

I have to believe that the Brian Smith situation won’t help us, but you never know. Their coach is hoping to make the big time again so I don’t expect them to let up if they’re winning.

I can see the offense being sluggishly conservative with Isphording calling all the shots.

You and others are probably some of the same people who used to criticize Frank for being conservative and not winning enough, along with Jimmy Burrow not being aggressive enough on defense. Not to mention criticizing Albin for his predictable ten win season offenses and Coach Smith for not running the ball enough. Yep all those coaches did nothing to put Bobcat football on the map. Coach Isphording has developed some very good QBs in Athens the last several seasons. But maybe you forget the wonderful days of Cleve and Lichty?

Does anyone know:
Who if anybody from Ohio has opted out of this game?
Is Navarro, Weatherspoon playing?

Navarro has been posting bowl stuff all week.

Though this day and age all it takes is the NCAA to grant him another year the day before, and Kenny Dillingham making one call and saying we want you to come compete for the starting job, but you can't put yourself at risk in Ohio's bowl game.

Would be on the next flight out.

I don't know who "you and others" are. I felt like the offense was sluggish and conservative when Ishpording was offensive coordinator. I think Smith added some necessary outside influence that brought the offense to the next level. I felt the same about Nowitzki and Hauser on defense.

As for your imaginary criticisms. I don't think I ever critized Burrow. The only time I was really disappointed in Albin was when they lost to Fiami in 2023. I actually dfended him after the 2021 season. I have not critized Isphording's work as a QB coach. The 1980s and 1990s were a different era with a different talent level.

Maybe I'm naive here, but a part of me just doesn't understand the high levels of pessimism towards this Frisco Bowl game.

Players play. No matter who's coaching them.

The Brian Smith nonsense is what it is... but does it really need to anchor down everything we're doing as a football program?

No.

You can recall some situations in past years when a team lost their HC before a bowl game (no matter what the reason was), but they showed up and played well in the bowl game.

I honestly can't wait for this season to end so that we can start focusing on actually building the team instead of discussing "He said, They said, then those guys over there said..."

My daughter-in-law is an OB?GYN physician in Texas. The names she hears would blow your mind. It's like some parents shake up the bag of tiles in a Scrabble game (a new one with apostrophes) and whatever comes out is the poor kid's name.

Although my all time favorite was a guy in the Akron phone book back in the 60s - Seymour Zipper.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Teachers, not unlike OBGYN nurses and physicians, experience all types of names and spellings over the course of a career.

Most of you, if not all of you, have the seen the following. But it's worth sharing again.

I didn't realize the Cowboys built an entire practice facility and destination shopping/eating/living around it. Pretty impressive facility. I think it's actually the Cowboys headquarters. It's like they put a practice dome at Easton. Canton and the new hall of fame area is probably a closer representation, but you get it.

Looks like both teams are having a lot of fun with a lot of the stuff they've set up for them. Always want to feel like these games are a benefit and something you worked your whole season toward.

Should be a pretty cool game, and I like the idea of the 12K seat stadium - will give some atmosphere to these usually sparsely attended bowls.

When was there ever NOT variations in spelling? Steven/Stephen, Jon/John, Carl/Karl, Philip/Phillip, Mark/Marc, and so on.
