Just saw this posted at 5:20 on 740 Sports. OU website said Smith is on leave for an undetermined period of time.

^ It doesn't say Smith has been fired. It also doesn't say Smith has been hired by another school to be their HC.

My only guess is there must be personal matters that Smith has to attend to, and he won't be able to focus on coaching the bowl game.

Yeah, it would be an odd move to be put on leave for an undetermined time only to accept another HC position somewhere else.

Guys, let's stay calm here.

If the OU staff were going to fire Smith (after an 8-4 season?), or if another school interviewed and hired Smith, reporters would've just come out and say it. No need to make it a mystery.

The feeling I get right now is that it's related to personal matters (family), and nothing's really wrong.

When I read this I thought that it was more likely to just be coach Smith having something personal to deal with. I sounds like others think they have inside information into something else.

My worst fear would be that some sort of scandal is brewing, but that isn't what I am thinking that it actually is.

There was a thread a while back with the title "Worrying Situation" -- the contents of which were deleted for violating board posting policy. Basically, a poster passed on a bunch of second hand rumors about personal life things re: Smith and suggested something along these lines would happen.

I don't remember the details and the post didn't have enough details to make anything clear anyhow.
