#27 Texas A&M did hang on to win, but the good thing about being undefeated is we have the potential to leapfrog pretty easily, although our close wins against bad teams obviously doesn't help. I refuse to root for OSU, but with them ineligible for the coaches poll them knocking off Nebraska helps us.

I think it'll be very close whether we are ranked or not this week.  I don't think most understand how much that Penn State helps us.  Deserving to be ranked is one thing, actually getting ranked is another.

I hope we are because good weather+undefeated+homecoming+ranked would be the most magical game I've ever seen in Athens.  I don't know how many people you can physically fit inside Peden before the fire marshall shuts it down, but I foresee us testing those limits.  27,000? Is that physically possible? Even if we aren't ranked I think we push it up there.  The ranking would just be icing.

NC State beating Florida St. is not. Can't see it happening this week.

3 or 4 spots up for grabs with Nebraska getting blasted, Washington in process of getting destroyed, Northwestern and potentially UCLA.

put me in for Cincinnati, NC State, Michigan, Boise St. breaking through

I do not see NC State getting ranked.  They will punish FSU more than anything.  NC State was coming off a lost to the U, who got blasted by ND...

As I said, I think it is VERY close.  If not 25, we will be 26 or 27.

FWIW, I was talking coaches poll, not media poll. Both are very different from 20-30.  In the coaches, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 and 33 all lost.  27 was A&M who almost lost then you have. La Tech, MSU, Baylor, ASU and we're tied with Michigan at 34.  None of those teams had dominating wins that would guarantee them a spot.  I think PSU is enough to carry us in.

TCU could also drop, although they were quite a bit higher.

Watch Penn State end up ranked ahead of us at some point, also.  That's the way it'll be until we establish our bona fides.

The only ranking that matters is the final one.

Go 1-0 vs Akron!

Monroe, I was thinking the same thing.  At some point even if we continue to win as we do in our current fashion, I see PSU jumping us and breaking into the Top 25.  Sorry, but if we really want to move up in the polls, we not only need to win but dominate OUr opponents in the process.

Ranked for Homecoming, how about just 1-0 vs T. Bowden at homecoming, pretty or ugly, don't care.  Survive one more week, the team needs the break badly.  We have to take care of the details and let the rankings sort themselves out.  Read Mark's insights above.

Penn State, like Ohio State, is banned from the post season and thus, banned from the polls that actually matter.
