Don't care at all. Just need another 1-0 week vs Akron.  Would love for some injured to heal.

With the way we have played these last 2 weeks, if we keep this up through the rest of the season I do not see us being ranked at all.  Right now we look like just another weak team from a very pathetic conference.  Quite frankly, this team borders on being an embarassment.  Sorry, that is how I see it.

I 90% agree.  The other 10% is thinking that is is very, very tough for ANY team to go undefeated.

I remember MAC teams showing up very well in the early games.  Ohio is better this than last and Toledo and NIS might be as well.  Ohio is a top team in a conference on the rise. Just how I see it.

Wow! That seems a little harsh!  You do realize don't you that we're down more than half a dozen starters/key players on defense and just lost one of the better tight ends in the nation?  I mean, we're starting 3rd/4th team players on defense.  Heck one more injury on defense and we'll be down to starting players from Athens High School, for heaven's sake!!  Not to mention our QB is hurt.

Clearly, with all the injuries we're not even a top 40 team anymore, but seriously, does that matter anymore with the effort these guys are giving?  A, the depth we have is amazing and B, I couldn't be prouder of this team!!  I seriously doubt any other MAC team could withstand the kind of injuries Ohio's had and still win games week in and week out.

I think it's a little unfair to call the MAC pathetic. Maybe not world beaters, but it seems the MAC is doing much better than recent seasons, and is at least holding its own with other non AQ conferences.

Penn State winning was very big for our hopes...  I already love Homecoming.  Homecoming with the Bobcats 6-0 and potentially ranked in the Top 25 gets my heart rate dangerously high.

We might have 27,000 people in Peden next Saturday.  SBH will be sitting on Ted Thompson's shoulders.

Hey ... why don't we start a string predicting the outcome of the final six games?

Penn State is ancient history. The computers might see their success as worthy of a bump for us, but it will be nullified by our struggles against the dregs of Division 1.  We just played the two worst teams in the MAC and barely escaped. Ranking isn't happening.  We're likely the 2nd best team in the East if we're lucky, which makes us the 4th or 5th best team in the MAC.  Anyone notice what Western did to UMass?  UMass is a joke.

This. We just need for the Ohio Walking Wounded to survive one more week, and they get a badly needed bye week. The many players gone for the season won't be back, but a lot of banged up players will get a chance to heal some....

We're still too far down to make big jumps.  The casual voter in the polls will only see a 38-31 win at home vs. a team that hasn't beaten a 1A school this season.  They won't take into account the injuries or the fact it was a 14-point lead until 8 seconds left.  Even those who dig into the stats will likely be convinced by Buffalo's 30-16 edge in first downs, yardage edge of 501-333, 313 rushing yds vs. a defense that was giving up 94 ypg, and the 11-minute edge in time of possession.  We lost the stats bigtime, but still managed to win, something that often goes unnoticed by the polls.  Getting ranked this time of year isn't easy for a MAC team.  We might move up some this week, but getting ranked will strictly be done through attrition as unbeaten and those ahead of us in the polls get knocked off.

Here is the good news.  Our best win beat a ranked team, and a couple teams in front of us lost.

#13 TCU lost
#20 and #26 both play teams ahead of them in the rankings tonight.
#22 Northwestern lost to Penn State
#24 Texas Tech lost
#27 Texas A&M is losing
#30 Michigan State won close against Indiana
#33 Miami (FL) is currently losing a tight game with Notre Dame

The margin of our victory will hurt us though... That last TD was a killer.  Hopefully our friends in the MAC will help Frank out.  I am not convinced we'll be ranked, but I think a lot of voters just knock NW out and put us in without giving it much thought.

But here's the not so good news IMO .... 4 of our 6 wins have been close games

Penn State 4 - 2
New Mexico State 1 - 5
Marshall 2 - 4
Norfolk State 2 - 4
U Mass 0 - 6
Buffalo 1 - 4

Opponents record -->   10 - 25

6 - 0 is great but we're beating weak opponents

WHY did we not kick FG on 4th down OUr last possession? Up by only 2 TD's - w/2+ minutes to go - ???????? As well, why burn the clock at end of first half, up by only one TD, when we have the ball and about a minute to go???????? Take a shot or two, maybe get in FG range - we have Weller! - ????????

We will get closer but doubt we crack the top 25 this week. I don't feel to bad about today's game. Always felt we would win which I couldnt say about UMass game. They got on 2 gimmick plays and punched one in in the final few seconds.

Just keep winning and we will get there. I am really getting nervous watching Kent. If the East comes down to that game I say we takeover Dix Stadium and make it a home game!

need to get healthy

but we have high quality problems...

Penn State is a better team than folks have given them credit for.  Most teams would be in the crapper after what happened at Penn St (take a look at Arkansas before today and multiply that by 10).    If Penn St were a "glorified MAC team" as the renown Robert Smith called them a few weeks ago, what does that make Illinois and Northwestern (well, at least Northwestern)?

Terd was jacked to get back at us for last year.  They may have spent their fire on us.

UMass and Buffalo can be chalked up as life with the eyepatch.  You better believe that the coach of every MAC team we play will haul out the fact that we're the unanimous choice to win the division.

Also, remember that three of the four close games were played on the road (and today's game wasn't that close after 14:56 of the fourth quarter; they didn't score until there were 8 seconds left in the game and their three drives before that were for 28, 9 and 25 yards).

I hear you ... but Buffalo had 500 yards to our 330. Without 3 turnovers we lose the game. Giving up over 1000 yards to teams 1 - 10, even with our injuries worries me. I think we're fortunate that Kent is the final game of the year as they may be a tough opponent.

According to Russ, UB's running back Campbell who had a career day against us is their 3rd string running back!  We managed to make him look like an All-American candidate today.

#'s 11, 5, and 4 lost also.  I don't know how LSU will stay in the top 10, although being from the Almighty SEC, they will.  They certainly don't deserve it after the Towson game, tonight's game (at home), and a 12-10 victory over a bad Auburn team.
