It really doesn't help that the "cheerleaders" stand in a place that cannot be seen or heard.  Would it be that hard for them to do what they do in basketball and come into the stands every once in a while?  Sitting in sec 105 I try to stand and get loud on key plays and then I look around and realize I must look like a crazy person to everyone else in the section (minus 10 or so other guys).

I guarantee we see a record crowd for homecoming.  #1 in Peden history.  Only thing that could stop that from happening is rain.

My understanding is that over 500 students and fans were turned away at the NMSU game, so I'm not sure we can really fit much more than that. I think 25,900 is perhaps the absolute "max" for Peden. We'll see!

There are going to be more Marching 110 alumni coming to this homecoming than any other in the past, thanks to the university honoring the late Ronald Socciarelli.  I would definitely expect a sell out this weekend.  At least we can guarantee that ticket revenue will be higher because we won't have 1000 high schoolers getting in for free and the tickets are a bit more expensive than NMSU.

1,000 less high school band students=more Ohio University students.  I don't think any students will be turned away, unless there are more students that show up than did so for NMSU.

Having students being turned away is a good problem to have. Especially for NMSU. Where's all those non-expansion haters now?

We will.  Besides more students than NMSU, you will also have a lot of recent grads who still use their student ID to get in free...

Cat4ever, the name of that majorette was Joy Washburn.  She was from Jackson.  As an Athens High graduate of the same vintage I had the joy of watching her in high school even before my Ohio days.  I actually became friends with one of her Jackson High classmates, who told me a lot about her.  In addition to being a real beauty, she was also a very nice lady, in the classic meaning of the term.  The friend, whose name I'll refrain from posting, was a pre-dental student, who the last I heard went to O$U dental school and was planning to be a dentist in Alaska.  I don't know if he ever made it.

Well, for me it's 104, but the reason I'm quieter than I would be is... I embarrass my wife.

I don't get obscene, but she really doesn't like when an occasional WTH WAS THAT!! or all of the jumpimg around... We could never sit in the Tower.

She can't complain much about a good "O H I O", since it's more than just me.

Actually, I think that's it... A *lot* of the time, it's *just* me, and she gets embarrassed.

It would help if others would "STAND UP AND CHEER!"

Think about it.

We've now had like 10 BA posters say they sit in 105.  Time for BAers to all stand up and get loud.  If you all do it together others who are also frustrated will join in.  Someone must lead the sheep!

The best way, perhaps the only way Ohio is going to be able to continue to grow attendance is by expanding the stadium. Otherwise the school is wasting potential. The seating sections could be moved around in Peden to make a 20,000 crowd look good in a 30,000 seat stadium. The school doesn't have enough seats to hold a 30,000 crowd in there now.

Huh?? We've had one crowd...ONE...in the last 50 years where fans were turned away (NMSU). Things are getting better, but we're not there yet. When games like NMSU (and hopefully this one upcoming) become the norm, then we'll talk. But for now, IMO Peden is more than sufficient.

Well after this upcoming game, 50% of our games this season will have people turned away.  It'll be interesting to see what'll happen on the weeknight MACtion games if we are still undefeated (and ranked)....

I think BG for homecoming in 1996 had people turned away.  We still had the track and people were just standing behind a little fence in the north endzone.  Maybe again for bg in 1997. both were huge homecoming crowds.

OK - I'm countin' on the at least 10 other BA'ers on here to chime in loudly when I stand up and challenge sec 105 to get loud a few minutes before KO - chime in on prompt "Is sec 105 going to help win this game? OU - Oh Yeah"!

Speaking of ticket sales, I see that there are just around 430 tickets left on the tower side already.  Gonna be a packed house.

The Pitt Game was sold out and people were sent home, I luckily had some connections in the 110 to get tickets for that game.

I think there are a lot of students who are disenfranchised with Peden, most view the stadium as a glorified High School Stadium, I love the history and character, but if you want people to take pride in going to the games, the stadium has got to be upgraded.

Analogy: What gets more looks and more people wanting to take a ride: a 2012 Ferrari that is cleaned and waxed or a 1978 Ford Pinto with rusted out floor boards?

Let's have all of the BA members in section 105 stand up on our first defensive third down and acknowledge each other and then get the rest of the section up!

I've been trying to do that for 10 years.

In response to the guy whose wife is embarrassed, mine used to be, too.  She went to her first non-Ohio college football game in Morgantown two weeks ago just for the pre-and post-game partying.  During a critical 3rd down, every single fan in the stadium was on their feet yelling as loud as they could.  Baylor did not convert and had to punt.  She turned to me and said, "This is what we should be doing in Peden."  She finally stood and yelled on 3rd downs Saturday instead of just doing it to celebrate touchdowns.  One fan at a time.

At the Big Farm in Cowtown, they ring a special "chime sound" on defensive 3rd downs.  I've wondered in the past if there's something like that that we could do. The PA guy (aka oldkatz) is now saying stand for third down.  That's a good start.  If we added some special sound, after awhile people might start associating the chime, or whatever, with 3rd downs and standing up.  Sort of Pavlovian but it might work.

Yes the ticket prices are higher and you aren't having those high school band kids in for free.  But also realize there are always alot of ticket deals for Homecoming as well.  I am getting 4 tickets to the game through Russ College for $30 and that includes the Russ College Homecoming Tent access where they will feed me lunch.

I believe on such deals the Russ College of Engineering is paying the Athletic Department the difference between your deal and the face value of the tickets.  We used to do similar things at OU-COM, now OU-HCOM, and that's the way it worked then.  It's called alumni (future donor) cultivation!

The 110 plays the same song refrain usually - AC/DC's Hells Bells - we are however "sans bell". And for unexplained reason they seem to sometimes do it on OUr offensive 3rd downs also.

OUr Home Crowd Advantage Technique IQ is pretty low............

On offensive third down's, they play a variation of the line "Stand Up and Cheer" from the fight song.  Short and sweet. Sometimes mistakes happen though and the calls to the band get lost in translation.  %&$* happens.
