Ohio needs to get out of here with a win and then figure how to play defense again during next 2 weeks!

They should work on the offense thing too, left way too many points on the field and stalled out was too often.

Did nobody want to get the ball on that onside kick?  That play looked like it was in slow motion

It's a win, and a game against "Bye Week" next.

I think Frank has Alzheimer's, must have forgot the score and forgot how bad our defense is. Why would you possibly put the back up quarterback in when you know our defense gave up a touchdown in 45 seconds in the first half? The game was not over in anyone's mind except his.

the same three plays would have been called - with the field position and the clock they were planning on handing off three times in a row.

Not pleased.  Not pleased at all.  I am very concerned about Miami.  Dysert will shred this defense and I have no idea why Vick was in the game with the outcome still very much in doubt.

This team lacks either the will or the ability to put a team away.  The score of this one should have been 41-21 but the Bobcats allowed them to hang around just like Buffalo and UMASS.  They're going to get bit hard in the ass sometime very soon if they keep this up.

I'm all for not over working Beau, but with a bye week coming how do you only give him 17 carries? He averaged over 6 yards per and Akron showed no sign of stopping him. Boykin will be solid but it's quite a downgrade offensively when Beau is off the field so much.

This team does what it needs to do to get the WIN..I think some of the comments are coming from fans who have never strapped on a helmet much less played college football. With that said our secondary is the weak spot I look forward to G-mo coming back and where has Oct Leftwich been he is legit.

Beau had some tightness and with Boykins you can afford to not overwork him.

Good question. I figure he has either been hurt, or had off-the-field issues, but it was good to see him today. I think the young secondary is making plenty of mistakes, but it will pay dividends the next few years for them to have all this experience.

If it was such a great move to put Vick in and the same plays would have been called with TT then why did they bring TT back in the game? Like I said it was a dumb move.

These coache and players work so hard.  Perhaps we could refrain from insulting name calling toward them.

When I saw that happening, I thought for sure we were headed to a 35-34 loss.  Really tentative.  At the very least, whoever was on that side of the field should've been looking to bat the ball out of bounds.

"Dumb." With the gains that have been achieved these eight years perhaps we could have the coaches backs.  "Alzheimer's, dumb."  Obviously you don't respect coach Solich, who would you like for a coach?

When Vick was in there were under 5 minutes -- we were up 13. We ran 2 minutes off the clock. Recall that the punt we set up for went awry and Akron got decent field position. And when they scored to make it a 6 point game things were different.

Dumb move? Yeah. I'm sure your knowledge of college football greatly exceeds Frank's.

Did you ever consider that a 13 point lead at that stage would seem to be enough and maybe he didn't want to take any risks of injuries to TT, Beau or Ryan and thus why Vick and Daz were in the game.

+1.

For a poster to speak of Frank and use Alzheimer's in the way he did suggests said poster is ignorant of the devastating  effects of Alzheimer's and probably doesn't know anyone who has actually experienced it. If he had any class I'd think he'd have done an edit of his comment and removed the disrespectful part of the post.

Jerry86, I think since Vick's great game they have begun each game with a goal to find him time on the field.  Obviously his practice and the game has gained him coach's total confidence.  If Vick was on the field he earned it.

I agree and IMO he's earned time on game day. And I don't think he'd seen reps since the Norfolk State game. We need him out there as situations permit so he'll be ready in the event TT gets hurt or even dinged up for a few plays. My earlier comments were to the guy who said it was a "dumb" move by Frank.

Rather than focus on the last part of the game - and our near miss at defeat... I think its worth noting that an undefeated team that is clearly under-achieving is kind of a good problem, if there is such a thing.  Think about how many points are being left on the field.  Then consider that this team is still finding ways to win.  When you add to that the number of injuries we have and the pressure that has put on the roster and then stop to realize that this team is 7-0 - its hard not to be filled with hope.  Almost every season Frank has found a way to finish strong.  The opportunity awaits this team now.  In the past the team had to rally from losses that should have been wins.  This time its different.  Our mid-season under-achievements have not been at the expense of victory.  I kind of like the idea that this team is not firing on all cylinders; that they are playing down to their competition.  It actually can provide some motivation.  If they were waltzing through the schedule I think they would be much more prone to "trap games".  This team has to be one of the most humble 7-0 squads ever.  Its kind of a good thing if your bottom is sitting on top with a perfect record. When I stop and think about it - I mean really let my imagination get the best of me... I think we've to them right where we want them.  Hungry and ready to surge.

Go 1-0 vs Miami!
