Was uptown this afternoon enjoying a late lunch and ran into a few of the 110's finest. Asked about their trip to Miami and they had just found out that Miami wasn't going to allow them to attend! They were pretty steamed, as you might imagine. What a bunch of BS!!

Anyone else able to confirm this? Assuming it's true, that's about as low as it gets. You'd think the "ban" would be lifted over something that happened 20 years ago.

One more reason...Miami Sucks!

I'd say bring them anyways and have the school buy them all individual tickets.

My understanding is that the 110 isn't going to Oxford, not because Miami barred them completely, but because they barred them from playing halftime. I could be mistaken but I don't think it has anything to do with the kerfuffle from 20+ years ago.

Not a surprise. tOSU pulls the same shenanigans, not even wanting the 110 on the field for postgame for fear that some of the shine of the 110 will dull their band's performance in comparison. I just assumed since the 110's attendance had already been announced that those details were sorted out.

If you're Dr. Suk you want to support the team, but it's pretty hard to choose to spend the money (that wasn't even planned/budgeted at the beginning of the year) when the band isn't even going to be able to play halftime. Different case when it's tOSU, bigger venue, planned months ahead of time, and closer (i.e. cheaper to travel to).

So basically Miami's band = cowards. If you follow TrumpetDaddy on HawkSquak, you can't be surprised.

If I toss up some swear words in the wind they will get sucked to Oxford, right?

Ok...why would the 110 announce they were going and not have already had this worked out?

Posting it on the Miami board was probably a bad idea. I'd guess it stirred up whatever opposition exists.

Feels an awful lot like a money grab from Miami from those of us who bought tickets, and now will not be going.  What are the odds of getting money back at this point ?

My question as well, feels like poor planning, but I've gotta imagine something fell through since it was just this weekend that it was announced.

I can't imagine that posting it on the HawkSquak (even though I'd love to point the blame at Dragon, it'd be fun) had anything to do with this. It's a matter of the number of commitments they have for halftime and nobody wanting to be the bigger man and yield any of their time. I can understand (if I were in the 110 and the shoe was on the other foot, I wouldn't want to give up half of my halftime time) but it sucks.

Umm, you should still go to support the football team, you know the one that is ranked and undefeated? If I didn't live in NC, I would be there without a doubt. Be grateful that you live close enough to go to the game and cheer for us who can't.

Mrs. Oldcat and I will turn our backs to the field for their halftime. Hope others do the same.

Tickets look like they are $11 a piece.  How many do they need?  Can't we get them there?  I'd buy them 10 - $110 for the 110!

Could they bring their instruments inside?  Even if they dress it would be impressive to have them show up.

Can they get a bus to take them?

I'm with you. I'd definitely be up for helping the cause to stick it to Fiami. When you mess with the 110, you mess with all of us!

From my understanding the band isn't going for certain because they were not allotted time for half time.  I assume there was a misunderstanding between the two parties and that was why there was an announcement and then the change of plans. Even still, you can trust there will be a contingency of 110 kids who will make the trip, and they'll be vocal!

What a bunch of red-chickens for not letting us play at halftime. No reason for that other than they KNOW the Marching 110 will show them up. C'mon...man up, Fiami!

Without any of us knowing any of the facts, it's probably best that we don't try to speculate on what happened. It sucks but I guess we just have to move on and focus on beating the Red Hawks on Saturday!

I'll be there no matter what!

I say we all bring kazoos and blare SUAC while Miami's band is performing.

Think this decision calls for a trade of at least one Muck, Fiami instead of an OU,Oh Yeah!

Anybody think that they'll replace the time originally given to the 110 with a performance from that woman who sang the national anthem for the 2011 basketball game? (don't know if she's performed at other events, that game is the only time I've traveled to Oxford) If so, I wouldn't be surprised, given Miami's standard of music (which equals their standard of everything else..)

I don't want Miami's band playing halftime at Peden.

Not sure why anyone is upset about this.   I guess the flip flop on having them play is what to be upset about?

This was a simple decision based on what I know, and it had nothing to do with money.

The 110 almost always will not travel unless they get to perform at halftime.  Miami did not want to accomodate, which is a shame.  But I can't say I blame them.

Would you want your band shown up in your own stadium if you had the choice?  Luckily, where we come from, we don't EVER have to worry about it.

As much as I wanted the 110 there, I have to agree with their decision to stay home.
