He threw a punch, and connected with the Akron player's helmet.  The Akron guy did a great acting job...falling down like getting punched wearing a helmet would actually cause any pain to the guy on the receiving end.

I agree with Solich, he deserved getting tossed...but the harm it caused was probably more to Jones's hand than the Roo!

So do you think Jones might get suspended for the Miami game or just a ton of stadium steps?

I don't know for sure, but did find this:

Quote:expand_more
Rule 9 Section 5 governs the penalty for fighting [fighting is a term of art and does not necessarily match the common notion of what fighting is, but it is strictly defined.  Fights before the end of the first half results in Disqualification for the remainder of the game.  Fights in the second half result in Disqualification for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next game. For fights that occur in the last game of a season, squad members in uniform, coaches and players with eligibility remaining will serve fight-related suspensions during the first game of the next season for which they are eligible.  If the squad member, coach or player is disqualified for fighting a second time during that season, he shall be disqualified for that game and suspended for the remainder of the season. If a second fighting suspension occurs in the final game of a season, he shall be suspended for the first game of the next season for which he is eligible. This suspension is considered to be his first fight of that season.

Rule 9 Section 6 Article 1 governs Player Ejections from flagrant fouls:  When a player is disqualified from the game due to a flagrant
personal foul, that team’s conference shall automatically initiate a video review for possible additional sanctions prior to the next scheduled game.

So it sounds like the MAC would look at it if it's wasn't "fighting."  If it was, I would assume he would be out for the first 1/2 half of the Fiami game since I'm pretty sure the foul was in the 2nd half.

In other news, I saw on MiamiHawkTalk a comment saying that we landed a 4 star WR over UC. Anybody have any insight on this? I didn't see anything on the recruiting board.

Wyatt from Georgia decided tween us and UC...he picked us...had some friends on the current Ohio squad....matching UC's 7-0 probably helped.

Gotcha. I thought he was a safety, but now I see he plays WR too.

The MAC has ruled Carl Jones will be suspended the entire game vs Idle.

Sadly that's about right for the MAC.

A real answer (suspended for none, some, or all of the Fiami game) would be nice.

How can a defensive tackle be out for a game 2 weeks in advance for a finger injury, that obviously is not what is wrong with him. TJWard for the Browns had his thumb operated on and played the same week. What is his real injury?

He did have surgery with pins put in. For all I know, he could be back for Miami. I'm just going by Frank's comment after the Akron game that Gerald Moore might be the only player they get back for Miami.

Upon further review, he did play in the 2nd half Saturday.

I am eagerly waiting to find out if some or better yet all of the 6 questionable players will be available for this game.
I am hoping that this break will be sufficient to get all these guys as well as some who are playing hurt back to full health.
With 5 games left in the regular season we need all hands on deck to finish this march off properly.

Looks like Boucher's playing time was the last 2 series of the game...

Dysert pulled?

It was something like the 3rd play of the second half.  Hopefully they take the Zip player's dive into account.

BG did it with a pretty balanced game plan...They dominated possession time and did it with 50 more yards in penalties than Miami had...Obviously the pick 6 was huge for them but I think we have the perfect weapons on offense to duplicate (and better) that sort of effort...

Not sure if Miami just abandoned the run all together early on or if BG had a hand in it...Was interested to see that Boucher had 8 passing attempts...Anybody happen to know the background?

1st Downs     14      27
Total Yards    256    486
Passing         253    235
Rushing         3        251
Penalties       5-35  9-85
3rd Down      4-14  9-14
Turnovers      3       1
Possess       22:49 37:11

Per their fan board Miami's one D1 caliber back was hurt and the OL has been disappointing, 22 sacks.

I pray we take this opportunity to dial up some pressure on the QB.  I know you can't do it every down but I would love to see it more than 3-5 times per game...  Seems we've been pretty succesful when we decide to blitz.

Hopefully the MAC will cooperate and not add any type of suspension to Carl Jones.  Not sure that he did anything to get suspended, but it is the MAC, who knows!

Did anyone actually see what he did to warrant the ejection?

Shoved a Kron player....in the face.

In other news, I saw on MiamiHawkTalk a comment saying that we landed a 4 star WR over UC. Anybody have any insight on this? I didn't see anything on the recruiting board.

I watched the whole thing unfold.  Our player was trying to get up off the ground and the Kron player kept pushing him back down well after the wistle.   The kron player also pushed him once he got up... Jones then retaliated.   I told my wife as it was happening that it appeared he was baiting him the whole time.  Sure enough the big FLOP at the end "Worthy of an NBA Player" sealed the penalty.   While it appeared to be an aggressive swing it made little to no contact with the Kron player.   Still... every Pee Wee football player knows which one will always get caught.  We have to be smatter than that...

The target on our back is going to draw more and more of these kinds of plays.

At his press conference today, Frank said there will be no further penalty for Jones. He is good to go for Miami.

Good.  We need to be able to throw as many troops as possible in there vs. Miami.

Given that it was more of a slap than a punch, that's probably the appropriate punishment. Actually, in this case the acting job by the Akron player probably helped because the acting was so bad that it made it look silly rather than violent.

They're literally talking about hummus on that board that's supposed to be discussing which quarterback is better. Sometimes, I wonder if they even know that they have sports teams.

They're in the Game Notes. But keep in mind that the coaching staff doesn't issue a 2-deep. This is done by the Media Relations Director.

Interesting the Gamenotes say the Buffalo game attendance was 20,044. I thought it was 24,000+? Not sure where I heard that, mabye on the PA?

That is correct for the Buffalo game. It is the lowest home attendance so far. Next lowest was Norfolk State at 23,673.
