Agree 100% with OhioAlum...

as a diehard OHIO fan....I'm still pissed about that loss and I'll probably tell my kids about how TT should have thrown it away years from now.

its ok to be upset...even at TT.  Blasting him publicly isn't right and is absurd to do so, but being mad at the outcome of a bad decision....what is wrong with that?

I know we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are without TT....which makes that whole scenario in Oxford all the more frustrating.  He's better than that.

but what bothers me the most is what we left on the table.  BCS was there for the taking.  Don't believe me?  Boise just lost...they're done.  Toledo (with 1 loss) is 25th in BCS.  Ohio would have definitely been in Top 20 this week had they beat Miami.  And wins over BGSU, Ball, Kent & MACC....easily puts them in Top 16 which equals BCS.  So if that doesn't piss you off just a little....I'm sorry.

Someone asked me if Sweet 16 loss was worse.  I said NO WAY!  Getting to Sweet 16 was an accomplishment.  They don't make tshirts for being 7-0 & ranked in BCS.  They left it all on the table......and that is hard to swallow.

its obvious they were playing with weight of world on their shoulders....and the loss relieved them of that.  The EMU game proved that.  I'm confident they WILL run table...win MACC and thrash some worthless Sun Belt team in GoDaddy Bowl.  And then we'll look back at Miami and wonder....."What If?"

First, I wish you could forgive TT.

th, please click the link. http://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/team/ohio-bobcats/projections now study the odds.  The hill you expect the cats to climb is nearly straight up.   There is about a 5% chance of winning the conference.  Now, what is not taken into account is that Ohio's staff won't be outworked and Ohio does have a very fine group of seniors/juniors who are experienced and do have so much invested that they will fight for every game to the very end. Will they all fall OUr way? No, and then we have to lick the wounds and congratulate the winner, even if it be Miami.  There is another game in just days. Move on, your kids will much rather hear how TT, LB and the team won their first bowl.

Sometimes it is best to enjoy what you have rather that fret about what you could have had. Let's just say that if Ohio was really a top 16 team, they would have beaten Miami. Since they didn't, they aren't there yet. Even now there is only about at 10% chance of winning the next three games, and if they don't win all of them, worrying about that loss is pointless anyway. As for me, I've moved on, and I'm hoping for the three wins, and hoping that they finally win in Detroit.

Forgive him?  What did he do that I need to forgive him?  That play had no bearing on my "real life"  He doesn't need my forgiveness!  To assume as much is absurd?!?  I'm not mad at HIM....I'm mad we lost.  Yes, do I think he could've made a smarter play and one that even he would even admit he is capable of....of course!  I don't think TT is losing sleep over me not "forgiving" him just like I am not losing sleep over my alma mater losing a football game (even if it was to Fiami, my sister's god-forsaken alma mater.)

My point is...we as fans, like OhioAlum suggested, should and can be upset about this loss. That doesn't mean we should head up to Court Street and light cars on fire and start a riot.  But to just say, "Mmm, well, the boys played their heart out and I'm happy with that." or "Well, we can still win the MAC title and that's what it's all about." is just absurd.

The best thing about Frank....he has brought expectations.  And I think that is awesome.  Winning 7 or 8 games a year was nice at first...so was winning 9 & 10.  And yes, I think with Frank we will win 9 games in our sleep most years.  But the bar should be higher now.  We should strive for more than a MAC title (even though we haven't won one since 1968)

But would you tell the Buffalo Bills if they are 16-0 in the regular season that making the playoffs is just fine.  Don't worry about winning the Super Bowl.....we happy just to make the playoffs.

No!

This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for this football program!  And you are insane if you think a 9-0 OHIO team isn't ranked about #19 in the BCS right now.  National TV exposure with EMU, BGSU and Ball State on nights when no one else is playing.....ESPN would have been pumping it up because it's on their airwaves.  Human voters would have taken notice, only helping our stock.  Computer points would continue to rise with Kent, NIU and Toledo success.  That Nov. 23 game with Kent would've been a huge deal.....as would the MAC title game between two ranked teams on a Friday night national TV game.

You can run all the numbers/stats/formulas you want, but I would hope everyone on this board would agree that we would feel pretty good about our chances that to go to a BCS game meant we had to beat BG, Ball, Kent & NIU/UT.  It's just like a run in the MAC hoops tourney....no it's not "easy" but I love our chances!  Especially when we have a very, very good football team (especially when healthy)

Remember back when Boise made their first real run at the BCS.....they were everywhere.  Media is always looking for the next "big  story" and OHIO would've been IT had they continued to win.  We already graced SI, USA Today, etc.  It only would've snowballed with wins.

So yes....I am upset we missed out on that.  Because, let's be honest....in two years when we have a playoff in CFB, no non-BCS conference school will EVER have a chance to make a splash nationally.  No until we expand to an 8-team playoff and then it's a maybe.

So yes....I am happy we are in the midst of possibly the best-season in school history....but also really upset we let one slip thru our fingers.

There's nothing wrong with that.  I'm not "blaming" anyone nor do I need to forgive anyone.  I'm just a fan that wants to see OHIO succeed to the highest of levels.  And winning a MAC title this year was NOT the highest level they could achieve given how the cards fell throughout the season.  It was there for the taking....and a gut-wrenching loss took that away.  So again, yes, it pains me.

While it took me a couple of days to come in off the ledge after the Fiami loss, I have to say that I have much better perspective today about how good our team really is than I would have had if we were still undefeated.  It was undeniably cool to be on all the crawls when we were 24th in the BCS rankings, but having watched a ton of FB this season, if we were still undefeated and in the top 20, I still clearly wouldn't believe we were the 20th best team in the country.

It wouldn't quite sit right with me to be there, and with a stronger finish to the season than what we displayed in the middle of our campaign, we may still well have an opportunity to spoil the BCS party.  I stayed up to watch the end of the Boise game this weekend and had the same "what if's" dancing in my head, but still felt like I was watching two teams that our team would have an immensely difficult time defeating...today.  Thus is the imperfect world of polls.

Do I think we had a missed opportunity...yes.  Do I hate that it came at the hands of Miami...yes.  Do I feel our ranking today is more just than if we had defeated Miami...yes.  Would I feel better about an Ohio team that is actually playing at the top of their game being in the BCS top 16 at 12-1 than the middle of the season Cats that were struggling mightily against some pretty weak competition...yes.  Which is why I am not losing any sleep over what could have been.
