As a thank you for being loyal Bobcat fans and current football season ticket holders, the Ohio University Athletic department is offering fans the opportunity to attend Ohio's matchup at Ball State on Wednesday, Nov 14 or the Bobcats' trip to Kent State on Friday, November 23rd - free of charge.

You can request up to the same number of free tickets as you have for Ohio football season tickets.

Let's take hundreds of fans to these last two Ohio Football games of the year and show the rest of the MAC which school truly has the best fans!

To request your tickets, just go online to ohiobobcats.com and click on "purchase tickets". Then click on "away games" and select the game and number of free tickets you need.

Ohio at Ball State: Request tickets by Nov. 6
Ohio at Kent State: Request tickets by Nov. 14

You can also pick up these free tickets at any of the remaining Ohio home football games without having to request them online. In addition, there will be a table inside of Gate 1 at Peden Stadium where fans pick up their free tickets in hand.

I was already planning on going to the Kent State game...might as well go for free. The Ball St. game on a Wednesday night is a little more difficult to navigate, unless I could call in sick the next day.

If we manage to go into that Kan't game w/no more than 1 loss - there could be what - 3,000, 4,000 Bobcat fans there????? (w/the big base of NE Ohio alums/fans?)

We had 5000+ at Miami in 2006. I would think we could have more than that if we are undefeated and/or ranked for the Kent game. I was already going to both games anyway. The free tickets are just a bonus.

I too was in for the Kent game- had already Pricelined my hotel, so the free tickets were an unexpected boost.   I also asked for the Ball State tickets.  It couldn't hurt, and I'm optimistic that I can make a roadie of that, too.

I plan on making this trip as well. Day after thanksgiving correct? If so we should get a great student turnout from kids home for weekend. No reason there shouldn't be more green than gold in the stands that day!

I did not know we had 5,000 at Fiami in 2006 - was not there. I have only been to TOO many BBall games there that we have lost - have begun to see myself as the "bad luck" if I go (one year I was in the area and listened to the game on radio instead of going - we won - Tillman Big Game).

Will be there for the FBall game this year.

So - we could get 5,000+ at Kan't? That would be awesome.

I could only see 5000 if we are undefeated.  As good as 1 loss is, it just doesn't have the same buzz.

Awesome promo for the Kent State game! I was already planning on going, and my mom actually called me yesterday asking when that game was and saying that she wanted to come with us.

Someone needs to make students aware of this deal. I could see a bunch of them going, and potentially outnumbering Kent State students.

Then why not have all us season ticket holders become "ticket trees" and get the ducats for anyone who wants and can attend those games?  We can use B/A for the distribution center and I'm sure Borna could find some foster care group or other child organization to use the extras for the BSU game.

Per the first post: season ticket holders limited to the number of season tickets they hold.

Two years ago we had a group of 30 110 ers to attend the biggest shopping day of the year event and KSU charged 5 bucks a ticket--so even if you do not get them for free, the price isn't big and you can sit anywhere.

Unless lots of students come, I'll predict not many adults attend.  It was a big game two years ago and while the Ohio fans appeared to outnumber KSU, Ohio fans didn't turn out in great numbers even though the number of alumni in the area is large.  It may be different at 11-0.  While Optimist is right that today's student knows and expects football success, those graduating before FS don't care enough to brave a cold November day to go to Kent and give up shopping or take a day off from work.

I'd suggest the athletic department do a kind of caravan and have a big tent and have the basketball coaches talk and make it a big tailgate and for 5 bucks you get a ticket, a drink, a hot dog and a bag of chips and advertise the heck out of it with their email barrage.

If any of you season ticket holders can't make the Kent State game, I could really use some tickets. Need four, maybe six, total.

As I said before, I'm in.  After a night of thinking about this, I'm wondering if the home schools and/or the conference itself are in on subsidizing this.  Let's face it - outside of Peden, the optics of the weeknight MAC games are terrible.  Last year, Miami v. Akron had literally less than twenty fans.  ESPN can try as it may, but it cannot hide an empty Yager, Doyt, etc...  Here, they can improve the energy and excitement of these games, even if it means borrowing the other schools' fans.  Opposing team energy is better than no energy at all.  Not to mention the fact that it's going to boost the attendance numbers of a Kent that has to reportedly get waivers from the NCAA for failing to meet attendance benchmarks.

EDIT:  Maybe, just maybe, I'm not crazy for thinking Kent and/or Ball State is in on this ticket giveaway. Found this article over my break today:

I claimed them online, and it allowed me to get free tickets to both.  I hope I didn't screw myself, because I obviously prefer Kent to BSU.

I ordered my ksu tickets today as I already had planned on going and free is a good price.  Now should I still charge my dad and uncle?????  I had ordered miami tickets the other week.  Do you all expect decent OHIO crowds at both games?  KSU in 2010 was a decent OHIO crowd.

I, along with a few coworkers and Bobcat supporters are going to the OU vs. Ball State game.  We are a group of teachers who always go to an away Bobcat game on a school night and then proceed to be very tired the next morning at school.

Last year, we almost got thrown out of the BGSU game.  That was fun.

With that being said, if there are any season ticket holders who are not using tickets for this game, we would be happy to take them off your hands for you.

Also, if you are going to the BSU game, I would make one suggestion if you have not gone to the game.  You're going to want to sit on the side with the Press Box because these are real bleachers, whereas the stands on the other side of the stadium are those of like a baseball/softball field with nothing underneath them.  It's going to be cold, and the wind is going to roll through Muncie.  Stay warm and sit on ther other side - which I think is the OU side anyway....

PM me if you would like to "Donate" your tickets, heck, I'd even pay $10 a ticket...

I'm guessin it's going to be a boys day out up to Kent on Black Friday.......

My youngest is playing High School JV ball this year so I gave up the season tickets.
This will be the his and I's only chance I get to see the Cats live this year.......though the MACC is definately in play.

My oldest is a freshman down in Athens so I'm sure he'll be heading up with us........his girlfriend will probably be out shopping........which she will catch a rash of crap over.. What kind of Bobcat fan would miss a ballgame to go shopping?

Bobcat fan or not, what kind of individual would want to get up Black Friday and go shopping?  I truly do enjoy shopping, but that day is when the crowd at stores looks exactly like a county fair.

I am not a season ticket holder, but filled out the info on the form for both games, I received email confirmation of 4 tickets for each game. Is that for real? A mistake?

If you're on this board and not a season ticket holder....well, you need to be one!

To borrow a line from Occupy Wall Street, we are "the 1%" when it comes to OU sports. If we, as the most vocal/passionate fans, aren't season ticket holders - who will be? As far as I'm concerned, if you are not a football and basketball season ticket holder, you lose all rights to complain about attendance, student support, marketing/ticket office shortcomings, etc. Don't be part of the problem...be the solution!

I don't care if you live in Alaska. It doesn't matter if you can only attend one game. If it's within your financial means, man-up and at least buy a family pack. Donate your tickets to a favorite local charity...I'm sure they would be happy to use them.

I realize the vast majority of us have been season ticket holders for MANY years, but it irks me a bit when I see all of these posters attempting to grab our free tickets (that we earned as season ticket holders). If I move to California tomorrow, you better believe I'm not dropping my seats!

OK...Officially off the soapbox!

Noted!

I'm an alum who is currently paying for his son to attend so I'm not too crazy about forking over even more money (so take it easy on me please!). I know it's not a lot compared to others, but still...
But I was wondering if it was a glitch or what is going on.
