No aggression, no energy, no fire. Captain QB on the sideline after no apparent injury. Getting absolutely rolled by the other team's running game. Lots of fundamental breakdowns. We look like we're just going through the motions, waiting for the clock to hit triple zeroes.

I am officially worried about the program.

No, this team lost this team.  Injuries hurt, but there is NO fire in this team.

I'd yank some guys scholarships. Not sure if it's possible but some have no business being on the field with their effort.

They can yank any of the scholarships they want. And yes, there are players in this game right now who should have never been recruited.

We have a team that feels sorry for themselves.  It shows.

The coaches lost this team when they call a pass play when its first and ten at the Ball State 11 and Blankenship have gained yards at will on the other team. No need to have a balanced offense if the defense can't stop the run. Solich did Ball State a favor and called pass plays in the redzone multiple times. Tettleton was sacked every time in the redzone.

Step off the ledge everyone.   Injuries have absolutely decimated this team.   Depth in the mid-major level isn't like it is in the major conferences.   I'm somewhat surprised we've done as well as we have considering the onslaught of injuries.   This team WILL be back next year.   I will continue to support them.

Just a suggestion WSC, but you may want to put down the crack bowl and ease off the booze before posting.

Like I said on a couple other threads, if we lose because we're not deep enough to withstand what injuries do (ours would kill a lot of BCS teams too) but it's HOW we play.  Execution is something that I can stand seeing us screw up at.  It happens.  It's our lack of fire, our lack of poise that bothers me.

With all of the injuries, this team will be very seasoned next year.  I'm going to be excited next season for it, but our effort has made me hope that we just don't get killed against Kent State.

We'll all continue to support them too. Hell, a lot of the people on here (MYSELF INCLUDED) are probably dumb enough to get up before dawn on the day after thanksgiving to drive 6 hours round trip to watch a similar lifeless performance (Beau and Daz and a couple of others excepted) , but we're not bummed by the loss: we're bummed by the absolute lack of (apparent) effort over the last half of that game. Yea, the team is injured. beat up. But the guys who were out there showed about as much excitement on the snap as I do when the boss is looking for someone to volunteer to take the blame for a lab screw-up. They looked like they wanted to be anywhere else than in Muncie.

All teams have injuries. Our backups clearly aren't competitive with the competition.  And I'd think if backups got an opportunity to play they'd put everything out there. If they did then they shouldn't be playing at this level.

There's a reason they're backups.  They aren't good enough to be your starters.

All teams have injuries, but not all teams lose an entire defense.

The big problem isn't the ability of our backups.  I'm sure they are all in when they play, but you can't expect backups of a like-talented team to beat the starters of your opponent.  But when your players walk off the field after a screw up and look like zombies, you REALLY have a problem.

Agree with Logan Elm.....my point is our reserves on both sides of the ball are just that, reserves or backups.  Depth is a problem at the MAC level.   We are into third and fourth levels of our depth chart.   It sucks but it happened.  I don't doubt the competitive spirit of student athletes, especially at the back-up level, just their ability.   We will hopefully ultimately be better off for it next year as experience is gained.

I don't care if we're Alabama here - no team can sustain the amount of injuries we have and not see a significant drop-off. Still, I feel the effort was lacking tonight. Have to play better - talent or otherwise.

Pretty much sums up my feelings.  It's not a "MAC-level" thing, it's an football thing.  O$U would have lost games this year with this number of injuries in the defense.  I just hope that the new injuries today are not serious and that we see those guys back against KSU.  Go OHIO -- BEAT KENT!

If this is what our backups are, it clearly means having a name like Solich as head coach does absolutely nothing for us in the recruiting game against other MAC schools.

I think a big problem was we failed to easily outdistance the soft part of our schedule. Games against UMass, Akron, Buffalo should have meant a lot of time for backups, especially defensively, but it didn't work out that way. And just to assume these back-ups are terrible and shouldn't have been recruited because of how they played late in the game tonight is ridiculous. Tettleton was 9 of 23 for 120 yards and 2 INTs with no TDs his freshman year.

Backups are backups for a reason.  If they were ready to play every down as a starter, they wouldn't be backups.  (This does not count positions with rotations like a running back type position.)

So why recruit guys who seemingly don't have the ability to play at this level? I'd rather leave scholarships open than recruit guys who should be playing at NAIA level.

At this point the injuries have taken a toll.

But it's the mental approach that tees me off.  As seems to be the case for a majority of you others now...So, you have joined my complaints from the EMU game that you then thought were stupid.

For example: Somebody should be benched or fired for our problems with clock management as we once again fail to even get a field goal attempt off. PATHETIC.  Any kid in junior high would manage that better.

How come every team can get pass rush pressure on us in the red zone when time is short--but we can NEVER do the same to the opposition.

How come every team runs on us at will when it's obvious as all get out that running is primarily what they are trying to do?  This passive defense has got to go.

I'd rather lose with gusto than play this sort of poorly conceived/lousy approach ball.

I'd like to see a replay.  I think it was on Ball's last punt that all of our return team turned and ran downfield.  Sure seemed like Ball's punter could have walked for a first down.

So, we come out with a bit of two back sets....and don't do it at all in the second half.

Didn't OSU have to start their Fullback at MLB a few games, and have had several DB's out as well.  Let's not use others to guage our problems.

What a bunch of lemming's!!!  This program has not been good enough, for long enough, for this type of reaction.  Some on here feel like they are a better judge of talent than the coaching staff?  What a joke!!!  Injuries has and have decimated this team all season if any observation has been made at all.  NAIA players?  Yes, we will have depth like an Alabama.................LOL.  Come on man!

Something is definitely up with pass-protection and/or with Tettleton's feel for the pocket.  TT is always trying to get outside and I think that's taxing the OL, plus the tackles are getting beat often.

But, let's not forget this team lost its two best receiving threats, Smith and Thompson.  Those are huge losses.

One unrelated bright spot, Beau looked faster than ever last night.

Do you remember what Tettleton looked like in '09?  He looked AWFUL.  Not everyone is going to be capable of playing on the field their first or even second season, and to expect to have all of our freshman capable of starting is asking a bit too much.  You have to allow time for them to develop, as we let Tettleton do.  You can't throw everyone into the fire and expect them to play like seasoned veterans just because they're picking up more playing time.  It's unreasonable.

But you if you think that should be the expectation, I can't really convince you otherwise.
