I would give it a 10% chance we would get picked over bowling green if it comes down to that. Maryland bcat is right, the bowls care about who can best represent on and off the field. bgsu beat us head to head, and have a better conference record and they are 4-1 in their last 5 compared to 1-4 for us. The bowls want a competitive matchup and right now unfortunately we dont offer that. and havent for 2 months. We have 1 quality win and they have none so we do have that going for us, but that was back in September. The difference in ticket sales between what we would sell and BGSU would sell is negligible. You're talking the difference of probably less than 600 tickets sold if that. The DC presence and chapter is awesome and they will turn out but we're kidding ourselves if you think that plays into the decision making of what team to select. We need UCONN to lose. I do think we have a decent shot of getting selected over WKU should it come to that. This year 8-4 MAC should trump a 7-5 sun belt record. I posted a month ago that an 8-4 record we would have to sweat it out the final week of the season and hope for losses and no one believed me. We only have a shot because Miami FL gave themsleves a postseason ban.
+1. Well stated.
I certainly wish we were 10-2, had taken care of bizness against Miami, not laid an egg at home on Senior Night against BG, and were now talking about WHICH bowl we were going to, rather than IF we might get a shot.
Also, re: another poster's comment re: this discussion/debate on a fan board negatively affecting whether a bowl committee selects Ohio, c'mon. First off, good respectful, honest debate about one's team and University is a good, healthy thing and to be expected on a board like this.
Second, the bowl committee will simply look at which team adds to the brand of their Bowl, will offer up a competitive, spirited effort, and may be able to either put some of their own fans in the seats or attract neutral fans from the area to check out the game.
