I willing to bet the Military Bowl thinks it can draw more people from Ohio than BG. Has nothing to do with more deserving.

And worth noting Rutgers will not be going to the Orange Bowl.

Boston...yep, I guess you are right in that 600 is more than 300!  Neither one will draw much.  As stated previously, they did beat us head to head and are probably more deserving (and a better team) at this point in the season.

Gold Sheet has both Pitt and Uconn winning - Pitt is a 3-star lock  - sheet has them winning by 18.

FYI - sheet has Northern winning by 10.

When a bowl opportunity is on the line and your conference is hanging by a thread.   I would say "heck yea" I think the fix will be in.

If Cincy loses this game they still go to the same bowl.  If South Florida loses this game then their status does not change either.

I'm anxious to watch these games to see if there are some strange game changing penalties....

I hope I'm wrong but when I see a 6-7 team granted a waiver it then becomes clear to me that it's about money... I'll bet my 401K that no team from the MAC, Sun Belt, Conf USA, WAC or MW would have been granted a similar waiver.

Shame on the NCAA....

This is when the fan base gets to go head to head with the other school.  No lifting, practice, film study or risk of injury required.  Surely Ohio has more than 600 who are in it for better or for worse, though, if this is for worse, worse is pretty good.

I know they weren't granted one, but did Fiami ask for a waiver in 2007 when they wound up 6-7 after losing the MACCG?

Latest SI projection is the Military Bowl against San Jose State;  we may even have the larger crowd.

did anyone ever realize that the independance bowl and military bowl pay out 500k more that most of the mac bowl tie ins. so its actually a good thing the acc sucked this year and we are still in a good position to go to a better bowl than everyone else.

I hate to say this....and will probably get some flak for it......... I want and think we deserve a bowl bid..... but I think one of the reasons that we won so much in the early Frank years was that everyone put us down and said we sucked so we were more than pissed off....well they seem to be sayin that now so maybe not goin to a bowl would give us a reason to kick some arse next year.....it would me....but that's just me.

Yes, would be nice to cash flow a bowl trip.

What you are missing is those payouts are dependent on selling your ticket allotment, which is something we can't do.

Last year the requirement was 5k per school, same this year. Don't sell your allotment, don't get the payout.

with that much money on the line, they would find ways to sell tickets.

Somebody had a piece about Okla not wanting to go to the Fiesta Bowl.  They've been in Arizona for one bowl or another in four of the past five seasons, and their fans are getting bored with the place.  Last year they lost out on $3 million of their payout because they couldn't sell the ticket allotment.

Actually Ian going to stand corrected, came across an article where it states the MAC has a deal with all it's Bowls where the MAC buys 5,000 tickets and gives them to the schools at no charge. The MAC is the only Conference to do this.

Bowl bid looks bleak, unfortunately.

Losing our last 3 games by nearly 60 points, the freefall to 6th place in MAC, the seemingly diminished energy and passion on the field now also translates to the same for majority of the fan base.

A Bowl selection group has to be confident in a team being able to put some butts in the seats come game day. If you're not a bigger name school or haven't won 10 or more like San Jose State, you need momentum and a strong finish to the season.

We won 8 games and we rolled over a Big 10 team in their home stadium.  That's more than a bowl game appearance.
