Hey:

I have never eaten at that Crawdaddys Kitchen you are talking about.  Crawfish are not in season yet.  So, you can mark that off your list.

Places I recommend:
1. Blind Tiger - It is down town and has a Cajun Menu.  When people come to Shreveport, that is where they usually go.
2.  Pizza - Johnnys Pizza is a local chain.  Very popular here.
3. Casinos - We have several Casinos and i recommend trying to get a room there.  They are all down town and walking distance to everything.
4.  Louisiana Boardwalk - Great place to go shopping and several rest's.  Would be a great place to take the family and wife too.  It is VERY nice and family oriented.  I like O'Briens Irish Pub and bar that is there.
5. Herby K's - Another local eatery.
6. For the younger crowd, there are a lot of clubs downtown, all by the Blind Tiger and the Casinos.

One person stated on another thread.  When going to the stadium, take cash! Seriously, do not stop and ask for directions.  The stadium is located in a bad area of town.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Just for the record, we had plenty of rain this year here in South La. (and very little cold weather so far) and crawfish are already in alot of restaurants.  But be careful.  Some restaurants offering crawfish may give you the little ones, not much bigger than medium sized shrimp--for crawfish, except for some women, you really want to be sure they have some good size to them.  And, they'll be expensive thru January before supplies start to bring the price down.  Bottom line, with boiled crawfish, take a look at what's coming out of the kitchen before ordering.  If they're not half the size of an average lobster, the price won't be worth it.

On the other hand, you can order classic dishes such as crawfish etoufee (this is done in a light creamy sauce over rice) or fried crawfish, and size doesn't matter so much!   Whatever you order for crawfish, don't be afraid to tell them you like it hot.  Otherwise, they will give you a "lowest common denominator" bland version.  You'll be looking for whatever hot sauce you can find to spice it up.

Thanks for the information.    Can't wait to get down to LA and take in the city.

Welcome Bobcats! We are glad you are coming to Shreveport. The Independence Bowl does a good job to ensure teams/fans have a great experience. There are a lot of activities to attend; if you come early it will be worth your while!! I live in Shreveport and a ULM grad/fan. If I can help with anything let me know.
