We definately dodge the best teams in the West.

Looks like we will have 7 home games.

OOC away games are U of L.   I think all others are home .  Is this correct.

Wow!

A very favorable slate handed to us from the West!

Of course we had similar thoughts back in August/early September.

Definitely there for the taking!

So it looks like UMass will be homecoming; Kent, Fiami, BGSUcks and maybe Akron (Solich vs. Bowden) for MACtion games.

Pending bowl games, the home schedule (MAC + Terd, N. Tex., Austin P) has a combined record of 33-51 (.393); roadies (MAC + L'ville) are 25-35 (.417); combined 58-86 (.403).

Consistently too. Since the 2005 season, and counting 2013, we have played:

EMU: 5 times
Ball State: 4 times
CMU: 4 times
Toledo: 3 times (last in 2010, last time in Toledo = 2007)
NIU: 2 times (last in 2009, last time in Dekalb = 2006)
WMU: 2 times (last in 2008, in Kalamazoo)

Those are only regular season meetings, but the disequilibrium there is crazy! (Not that I'm complaining, that disequilibrium probably works out to an extra couple of wins over that period).

Just realized we haven't played Western since '08, and this schedule will make it five years since then. I would've liked to see how we matched up against the Broncos...

Number of times we have played each West team from 07-13 -

4- EMU
3- CMU, Ball State
2- Toledo
1- NIU, WMU

That's lame, is that our people lobbying the MAC to give us cupcakes or is that the MAC keeping the big dogs away from each other as much as possible?

EDIT: sorry, somehow skimmed over mf's post with similar data. but point still stands.

It's very possible the league is trying to keep the expected good teams away from each other in an attempt to keep a repeat matchup out of the MAC Championship.

We will have strength of schedule #113 next year. I hope the team can capitalize better than this year.

Horrors,  8-4 again, would that give the 2013 seniors the second most wins in four years, after 2012, in Ohio history? Wait, what, could the 2012 seniors and their coaches have some kind of all-time record for Ohio? Perhap they deserve a little love?

I don't think it's to avoid rematches. I think it's to tilt the odds in favor of bowl eligibility and maximum #MACtion exposure.

It worked this year.

This would be a great year for us to have the bricks game on Black Friday in Cowtown, still have 6 home games, and we could be looking at a BCS bid or MAC East Title on the line.

On behalf of Dan Jenkins (if you don't know, read 'em; absolutely hilarious):  'Left hand, right hand, don't make a shit.'  IT IS 100%, ABSOLUTELY, FOR SURE OVERDUE FOR OHIO TO MAC CHAMPIONSHIP.

Getting to the point where anything less is not acceptable.

I actually really like that idea! Would still have 6 home games and go on short road trip to Columbus. I have no doubts that Ohio would draw much better than BG did this past season at Crew Stadium.

A Columbus game would be a novelty, but I'd be shocked if it drew more than about 5-7,000 people. Better off playing the game in Athens and at least getting 13-15,000. A Columbus game, IMO, would be an embarrassment and disappointment. The net gain (some curious alumni in Columbus, many of which haven't attended a game in decades) would be far smaller than the net loss (local, southeast Ohio fans). Don't do it!!
