Would love to see them put some MACtion in all the doubters' faces.

Huskies performance will reflect on us.

I will, with some reservation, root for them, but I doubt it will make one iota difference in the outcome of the game.  Does this make Ohio any money like wins by the MAC in the NCAA"s.

No, but it will help the MAC's image.  And anything that will make Herbie and the rest of the elitist morons eat their words is well worthwhile.

I'm almost positive we will make money from their BCS appearance.

Wins themselves don't translate directly into money, but they will improve recruiting (for every MAC team), and they will increase the credibility of the conference. Both, in time will translate into more money via future bowls, etc. If the MAC can go 3-4 or better, 4-3, they show that their teams did belong in bowls. If the MAC were to have gone 0-7, as predicted, then it might be a long time before you saw 7 MAC teams in bowls again.

66--your rooting for NIU will make a huge difference.  Could be the diff between a W or an L.

How could anyone affiliated with the MAC NOT root for NIU? It makes no sense.

Kind of like a MAC coach not voting NIU into the top 16.

As a MAC representative I'm naturally rooting for NIU.

As a non-BCS school, I'm naturally rooting for NIU.

As the team that every talking head says has no business in this game, I'm naturally rooting for NIU.

I also think that had we not suffered so many injuries, it could be us in this position rather than NIU, so I am vicariously rooting for them.

Speaking of other games, I just turned on the mid-3rd quarter of USC vs. Georgia Tech.  USC looks horrible, their back-up qb--was he a USC, top level recruit who was prepped for this game or some guy they just grabbed out of the stands...he's brutal.

Just listened to  Kirk Herbstreit on ESPN -  WHAT A JERK!  He was really rude and disrespectful to both  NIU and the MAC!   He and his little buddy from mishigun really had their laughs.   GO NIU  !   Hope South Carolina kicks crap outa mishigun.
Pulling for all MAC teams.
I watched O$U play when he was their QB and I can say truthfully that he couldn't play for most of today's MAC teams - if any!

Will be rooting hard for NIU tonight.

I wasn't impressed with Lynch's pregame remarks about Florida State.  I don't believe in giving teams bulletin board material.

Agree with you JM about Lynch's remarks.  Those remarks may have  provided  FSU with a big shot of motivation which may hurt big time.  Players need watch what the say (like coaches) - give praise only for opponents - do your talking on the field.  Herbstreit was okay in criticizing Lynch for his remarks but didn't have to be so critical of NIU & the MAC.

One person's bulletin board material is another person's psychological warfare.

I think psychological warfare, as you call it, would be more effective in games requiring precision, like basketball or tennis, but where strength and desire are more important, as in football, the bulletin board effect is what you get.

In the movie "61*" about Roger Maris's pursuit of Babe Ruth's single-season home run record, Baseball Commissioner Ford Frick (who had ruled that Maris must break the record in 154 games, the same number of games as Ruth's season in 1927) was depicted as watching the Yankees' 154th game with great consternation when Maris hit #59 but with great satisfaction when Maris failed to tie or break the record.  I see Herbie watching the Orange Bowl on the ESPN jet back from Pasadena tonight with great consternation over NIU's successes and great satisfaction over their failings.  Frick's personal interest was that, during his days as a newspaper reporter, he was a ghost writer for Ruth during the 1930s and was biased in favor of Ruth.  For Herbie (who I now view as rhyming with Frick), his personal interest seems to be that the MAC is in a separate class from the AQs and its schools need to be kept in their place so as not to spoil the "purity" of the BCS bowl system.  In another context, people like that are called "racists."  At best, Herbie is an elitist.  It seems no matter how hard we try, the narrow-minded are still among us.

attendance looks ok, even though you can see empty seats in the lower bowl.

Uh Oh... 4 plays, 95 yards, only 1:10 off the clock. NIU's defense not looking too hot.
