Only second to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl in terms of the worst full bowl name to say.

True.....we'll call it ......Thesnukingivemeamilliondollarmakeme hollar......bowl.

Not that it matters, but I thought Central Michigan couldn't be taken over us in any circumstances since they only had 6 wins...

I'm just happy to be bowling... Will be fun

any early spread?

With 5 weeks between our last game and this bowl game one has to wonder how many injured players could be available for this last game of the year.
Hopefully Frank will address this question come the first news conference or better yet in some article.

No I'm sure that is not the case.   CMU and Western Ky would have been left behind before us.
I believe we will find out there is more to this LA Tech Story.

I'm happy we are going to a bowl but its hard for me to get excited about this one. Good as far as name recognition with the Independence Bowl - everyone knows it. But its hard to be fired up about playing the La-Monroe Slavins. Even worse is that we dont matchup against their passing attack well. They might score 100 on us.

He said might.....and I would have thrown a hissy fit if CMU and/or WKU got in over us.

At 9-3 and beating PSU you guys definelty deserve the I Bowl. It's not about records it's about money , how many people you bring to game ect...seems like. Luckily I Bowl is close to Monroe and 0-4 hours from high alumni numbers. If we were in Detroit bowl we would have been screwed. We would hav traveled make 1000 people. Hopefully you guys can make the trip.

Didn't we travel well to the Idaho bowl last year... IN IDAHO?

I think the turn out is going to be much better in Shreveport.  Dallas has a lot of OU alumni and should travel to this game with it being so close.

i think the big issue for Ohio is going to be health.  We didn't end healthy and unless your a Senior that is not healthy I don't think they should risk our returning guys in this game just to try to win a bowl.

i've also heard the the payout numbers everyone is quoting from prior Independence Bowls was when SEC schools would play in it. Its possible we could get less.

that really is a miserable freaking time slot.

btw, is anyone else having trouble posting from Firefox lately?  This is all I get now:

No trouble posting, but occasionally weird stuff happens, like it'll suddenly shut down or post a message that I haven't finished.  Some of it's the notebook I use at home, but it's happened with our other laptop, too.

Certainly a better time slot than Tater had.  A Saturday before Christmas is tough.  With it occurring during the holiday break -- and on a Friday to boot -- there's a better opportunity for the numbers to be there.

Yeah, I understand both teams have health issues.  It'll be a case of who mends or makes adjustments better.  Of course, if the Mayans were right, this will all be academic.  Just 19 days to go.

I think true Bobcat fans go to any Bowl we are invited to play in. It's the wrong day, I don't like the time, my cousin may want we to go to his house in Columbus none of this should come into play. I think the only real excuse is "I can't afford it" or I am too sick to go. Otherwise quit whining and go to the friggin bowl game!

Some of us have family, work and other commitments this time of year that make it difficult to just drop what we're doing and fly to wherever for a game.  With schools out and most holiday events done by 12/28, it may be easier than pre-Christmas.  If you have the luxury of being able to take time off, spend a grand or so on airfare and game tickets, that's great.  But that doesn't make you any more of a "true Bobcat fan" than those of us who can't.

first of all...congratulations on your invite to the Indy bowl.  Second some watchouts and warnings: 1.  take cash to the stadium. the state fairgrounds admin will nickel and dime you to death on parking and other "fees". for your parking fee you get...nothing. 2. Get to the gate early for the game. there will be two gates open on the north end, one on each side with two lines in each. EVERYBODY will be wanded, frisked, strip searched, felt-up and otherwise checked for weapons. note: fingernail clippers are considered a weapon (I kid you NOT). 3. avoid the low seats. they suck. for the last 62 years I have sat in the upper half of the stadium and have a great view.  4. avoid end of row seats.  5. seats are very close together. make friends with person in front and behind you because ya'lls knees will be in each others heads.  6. after the game, DON'T HURRY. shreveports finest will be slowing the traffic as much as possible and lots will ooze out.  Police will also not allow you to get directly on the Interstate (100meters away) but will direct you into probably the worst neighborhood in the whole city. Take a gps and don't stop for directions. 7. Ya'll should have no trouble getting tickets. Your opponent has terrible home attendance and I don't expect them to sell anywhere close to their allotment.  Their tailgaters will have lots of WHINE.  8.  we would have been more than happy to paritcipate in the Indy bowl if ya'll had been our opponent and ya'll would have enjoyed playing us more.  We stopped playing your current opponent a number of years ago for numerous reasons.  Have fun and let me know which of the casino buffets is the best...or go to Posados for really good Mexican.

So here is what i'm guessing:

1. you are a Tech person who hates ULM and decided to write grambling into your name because your 'Covert' like that

2. you are from Grambling and are bitter for whatever reason.

3. you just don't like that stadium very much.

Side Note:

Thank you for the post and the information about the seats and the gates and the entering and leaving the stadium area.  The cash information is also great so thank you.

We would however appreciate if you could supply that information with a bit less snip.

Go Cats.

Now you guys know what we have to deal with. Sad thing is that Tech thinks their so great and they dog on us yet they have never sold out their stadium.

@bobcat2005:
If you'll check the profile you will see that my name is Greg Grambling. My family has had the name far longer than the community or colleg that bears the name.  the college was named after the town started by a distant cousin.  My ancestors came over from Germany before the Revolutionary War, ending up in S. Carolina, then migrating west with a stopover in Alabama and then on to Louisiana.  the GSU students I meet think it's cool for a white dude to be named Grambling, until I explain the history to them.  Their college should be named Adams State University, since a guy named Adams was really responsible for the school being founded.  As for my feelings concerning ya'lls opponent, Northeast Louisiana Junior College morphed into Northeast Louisiana State College became Northeast Louisiana University assumed the name University of Louisiana at Monroe...there is NO University of Louisiana, just two branches in Monroe and Lafayette. Any college in La. can become U of L at wherever. only two have done it.  You'll see what I mean by the whining when you meet them.  Their AD pledged to never play La. Tech again in any sport after Derrick Dooley "insulted" them.  He's broken his promise in several sports but we won't let him in football. Sorry, but I can't talk about the place without adding few insults and cuts...it comes naturally and is so easy :)  Yes, I have two degrees and lots more hours from Tech and I'm damn proud of it and yes I dislike State Fair Stadium. I played high school football there and have been to college and pro games there. It's always been uncomfortable. you will see.  Does that answer your question?  if not, read my profile...it's public.

@Notbobbykeasler:

You used their when you should have used they're.  I learned that in the eighth grade.
I'm still wondering what the purpose of your post was? I wasn't talking to you
I mentioned home attendance, not percentage of capacity with warm butts in place. Learn the difference
Why is staub so eager to play us?  Stop being like a spoiled kid brother and just go away.  I'm talking to the Ohio folks

OL Eric Herman - Probable
OL Vince Carlotta - Out (concussion)
DE Tremayne Scott - Questionable (foot)
DT Neal Huynh - Questionable
OL Matt Prichard - Out (knee)
OL Ryan McGrath - Out for season (leg)
RB Ryan Boykin - Out for season (knee)
WR Landon Smith - Out for season (ankle)
S  Xavier Hughes - Out for season (shoulder)
TE Jordan Thompson - Out for season (knee)
OL Sam Johnson - Questionable (ankle)

Frank in his news conference mentioned the possibility of 3 players being ready to play in the bowl.  I didn't highlight Eric since the doctor was to inform them later of his status.

These 3 are just guesses....but Vince is out for sure.....it would be fantastic to have Scott and Huynh....and hopefully Eric's doctor has good news.

PROS:
  • 106 miles away & 1p kick-off, so a day trip is possible.
  • Only 3 bowls that day and none in competing time slots.
  • Three days before LSU game.
  • First bowl game in school history.
  • ULM somehow mustered 31,000 fans for Baylor.
  • If weather is good, will bring out fans of bowl (not teams) from Shreveport.

CONS:
  • Many students away from Monroe for Christmas break.
  • We averaged only 16,405 for all games other than Baylor.
  • Some fans didn't know Ohio had more than one university.
  • Ohio fans feel the same way about Louisiana.
  • Open-air stadium with unpredictable Louisiana winter weather.

Some pros and cons listed on their board as far as how many people they expect to bring.......for who we are they should have asked Michigan.....now they know who we are....we are Ohio.
