Is this a local game for our Monroe in LA?

Hey, the athletic department might make some dough on this one.  Selling tickets may be easy especially if the LA Monroe fans make a run on OUr ticket site if LA Monroe sells out their own ticket allotment.

Will be a tough atmosphere playing a true away game with a lively away "home" crowd from just down the road.

Looking forward to seeing the 110 take the parade by storm while the team findis their MoJo in 2012.

Does the athletic department put on some kind of travelling package for these things usually?  I'd love to see what a price would look like...

Did a quick check of fight price and they were not cheap. Long drive as well. Any chance there may be fan buses for this game to help with costs?

Looks like you can fly round trip out of either Columbus or Charleston to Dallas for about $400. Dallas looks to be about a 3 hour drive to Shreveport. If I make this trip and there's no OBC/Athletic Dept. package offered, I think that's what I'll do.

Maybe. Not much further than New Orleans two years ago. Although I have to say that bus ride was absolutely miserable.

DE Tremayne Scott - Questionable (foot)
DT Neal Huynh - Questionable

OL Matt Prichard - Out (knee)
RB Ryan Boykin - Out for season (knee)
WR Landon Smith - Out for season (ankle)
S  Xavier Hughes - Out for season (shoulder)
TE Jordan Thompson - Out for season (knee)
OL Sam Johnson - Out for season (ankle)

CB Jamil Shaw - Out for season (shoulder)
WR Mario Dovell - Out for season (broken bone in leg)
CB  Travis Carrie - Out for season (shoulder)
WR Sebastian Smith - Out for season (broken leg)

So according to this  2 of OUR best D players should play.

Carrie arguably the best probably not....but how bad was Shaw's shoulder injury?...when healthy he is a decent D player....as was Hughes.

Mario Dovell....which bone....just kiddin and bein a smart ass.

I think TT was hurt all year as well....so the guy who said that the team that lost to Kent State (and put up a hell of a fight) is wrong when he said that the Kent Ste team will be the Monroe game team.

Not a sexy opponent but certainly more of a "name" bowl than the Potato, Pizza, or GMAC. I'll take it!

By the way, I believe the game time is 2 p.m. EST that day -- if you're looking at 1 p.m. on Independence Bowl site, that's because Shreveport is on Central time. ESPN.com says 2 p.m. EST.

I know your opponent is happy to see you there regardless of how it happened. If our "friends" down the road were too stupid to say yes, well that's their problem. Like I said before, with the exception of the final score, I welcome you and hope you have a fantastic bowl experience. BTW - that's one heck of a RB you guys got.

Odd but of all the seven MAC bowls, our payout exceeds all but the Orange Bowl.  With pooling and expenses deducted, it appears we will get a one twelth split of a 18-20 million pot!  Wow!!

Am I the only person who would have rather been in the Military Bowl? Ohio has a big alumni base in DC. Not so sure about any alumni in Shreveport, LA.

The game is at 2 pm on a Friday? Ok...I guess I get forward to watching the game on ESPN3 on a laptop at work. That's fun.

I'll admit, I would've liked the DC venue much better. But, let's all try to fight off this "bowl flu" that feels like it is coming on. We've reached a new plateau with Ohio football where a bowl appearance almost seems to be expected. That's great -- it means we're really established as a program -- but let's all (myself included) stop and appreciate any bowl appearance.

Detroit, Mobile, New Orleans, Idaho, Shreveport. Not bad for the last 7 years.

I love this selection. From the strictly personal point of view: I can't afford to go to a bowl game in either DC or Shriveport. That being said, I probably would have gone to a game in DC anyways. This way I'm not tempted to spend the money I don't have.

I think this is a matchup we've got a good chance to win, it'll probably be a fun trip for the team, it'll definitely be nicer weather, and as another poster noted, maybe the guys from the best reality-show on television will be roped into this somehow. I know Weller is a big hunter...maybe a duck hunting cameo?  Hahaha

EDIT: I forgot to say this initially. Rather than looking at the bowl time (2pm on a working friday) as a detriment, look at the positives: The time and location make it an ideal chance to reacquaint Gulf Coast area alumni (I'm thinking primarily retirees) with OHIO University.
