1. Maybe they ran out of "tickets" (like they do concessions) - sure were not out of seats and/or standing room (see empty area on hill).
2. South end zone - waste of space - put bleachers there if nothing else. If it's some kind of "rich alums and/or business sponsors" pay for seats they never use use - then have them "donate" to the cause in another manner as they obviously are willing to do, and get more $ for seats that can be used.
3. I am sure a shot from the other side of the field would have shown more easily apparent visible empty seats in the south end corner bleachers.

My son and I did the same routine every game - browse the stands and get a take on how full we were - not totally full seats at Any game - Lot's of empties. We were anxious to say "It is an actual full stadium!" - never was.

Per running out of concessions - reminds me of Saturday's basketball game. I wanted a box of popcorn and drink at halftime. The lines were stupid long with only half the concession register lanes open - all the way around the Convo (I know becasue I walked all the way around to see if there was a shorter line anywhere - NOT). Who woulda thought - might be 7K or so at a Marshall/Ohio BBall game. I did not want to miss start of second half, so I just gave up and went back to my seat...........

I think it's great that we may have actually, or at least got very close to, "sell out" maybe 3 times this year. It is however very obvious that we can increase single game and season total attendance in a lot of ways, and by spending a lot less than a monstrous fortune for major seating/stadium renovations (some critically needed facilities renovations must be addressed - restrooms and hallways in particular). A few bucks more for premium seats would not I think be resisted by the solid loyal fans/alums - I don't see good rationale to raise the "family" pack offers for the less desirable corner stands. Better concessions management could raise a lot of funds over the course of the year. I for one would pay an extra buck for Hot Chocolate that is actually "hot".............might even buy a second..............or a large............or one for my friend...........then look for a program (if it was thicker than my "chair back").............

I'm not sure if that's actually possible. You're never going to have every ticket holder show up. I'll settle for every ticket being sold. You can't control whether or not they show up, and it's no skin off my back if some guy in section 104 can't make the game.

As for concessions, I'm with you. They're an absolute joke!

Actually it is - if the demand is that much stronger than supply then hardly any tickets would go unused - they would be given away or sold (and you would see them being sold by hawkers outside the stadium or on Stub Hub, etc.)

With the money we charge to get into games we are letting plenty of revenue go by the boards. I'm all for having value plans, but $4.50 is less than what it costs to get into a high school game. And certainly as a previous poster mentioned, there's no way 4 adults should be getting into a season for $160 (but that's on the ticket office for not monitoring how tickets are obtained), anyone who has paid the real rate should be outraged by that.

So, you're saying that when Cinci and Kansas come to town that we should tack on an extra $10-25 per ticket, bringing in an extra $250k?

Kansas game will be a miserable showing, #1 they will not bring anyone.  #2 The suck  #3  Crowd will at best look like the Minnesota game 10 years ago.  A good Northern Illinois team would excite the local community over a Kansas team.

Kansas - may have to have deeper discount to fill the place...............

Cincy - a win supported by raucous more Bobcat fans than travelling Bearcat fans will pay more long term dividends than pissin' off Tuppers Plains/Glouster/McArthur (et al.) Joe 6 pk (per reference earlier in thread)

re: Joe Six-Pack.  I've seen more of the indigenous population around these parts sporting Ohio gear in the Solich Era than I saw in the previous two decades.  Even Wal-Mart in Athens carries a fair amount of Ohio gear now, which is important because Joe doesn't darken the doors of the College Book Store or Follett's or even The House of UA.  I still see way too much Evil Empire stuff around town, but percentages are starting to sway in noticeable way toward the home team.  And, to be fair, this isn't all Frank's doing, the recent success of the basketball team has been a factor, too.
