I've come to the conclusion that I don't believe a thing Manti Te'o says.  I get the impression he believes what he says.  I suspect we are dealing with mental illness here.

That's not at all the conclustion I've come to. It seems to me like he put way too much trust into an Internet relationship and lied to various people because he was embarrassed.

Very early on he mentioned having met this fictitious lady.  At that point he was either telling a knowing lie, or he believed what he said was true.  After watching him I really think he thinks he told the truth at all times in this matter.

He has admitted that he lied about this because he was embarassed about what others would think if they knew he never really met her.

I think I'm about done with this story. It was a fun freakshow for a while, but now (a) I don't believe anything any of the principals says about any aspect of the situation, and (b) no emerging detail would shock me. The shark has been jumped.

In the Couric interview he said that the only person he lied to was his father.  That's simply not true.  He is quoted in an interview that I posted earlier from the South Bend newspaper as telling the reporter that he had met this fake person.  I really think that in addition to the hoax that was perpetuated on him that there is pathology at work here that make this confusing story even more complex.  I guess that time will tell, but I for one will not be surprised if his future NFL career turns out to be one negatively effected by various personality issues.

I have to admit that I didn't care enough about this story to watch either the Te'o-Couric interview or the Tuiasosopo-Dr. Phil interview. Since apparently no laws were broken, the story probably dies here, but there are lot of loose ends that were never tied up.so it seems clear that the full story isn't out.

I said the night we published that as soon as Te'o put out a position, the full truth would never be known. It is kind of amazing, the Ronaiah performance on Dr. Phil today when he proves he was Lennay's voice. That's probably my highlight of this whole story.

Oh? Was he able to do "her" voice live? I suppose that if he could do a female voice, it wouldn't be too surprising if it ended up sounding a bit like his cousin. Also, did Tino herself ever make any kind of statement?  And, also, where does Reagan Mauia fit into all this?
