Looking for our 4th straight opening day win -- beat Wofford, NMSU & Penn St the last three years; last opening day loss was '09 at home to UConn -- and our third straight win in the road opener -- Wofford was at home; we lost the road opener to O$U in '10.  Who has a pic of a bobcat eating a cardinal?

I took what appears to be the opposite approach from most here on lodging, booking the Hilton Garden Inn a very short walk from the John to avoid any day of game logistics/parking concerns, so I may be up for "hosting" a tailgate in the parking lot there, but not sure how close others would be able to park. Do they actually refer to it as "The John"?  If so, they need to get Austin Peay in there.

Let's hope the injuries don't continue, but I don't see these injuries as threatening to cause the same sorts of problems as last year. So far the injuries are focused on tight ends, with four TE's gone. Tyler Knight (hip) and Dereck Robak (back, concussions) both announced that their playing careers are over. It may also be over for Tanner, for whom this shoulder injury is simply one more in a series of shoulder injuries. Davon Henry is having surgery, and is gone for the year.

That leaves three seniors, and 2 true freshmen. The Seniors are Troy HIll, who hasn't played much because of injuries of his own in the past, and two players that transferred in as Graduate Students with a year of eligibility left, Anthony Talbert  from NC State and Alex Asher from NC. The true freshmen are Mason Morgan and Troy Mangen.

If there are more losses at TE, there are also several players slated to be defensive ends that were recruited as TE/DE's, one of which is Casey Sayles, who is already taking snaps with the offense as well as defense. There may also be other DE's that could make the move, if needed. Also, I remember one year when there were a lot of injuries at TE they moved an offensive Tackle out to TE, which gave them another blocking TE.

Here's an SI article on Louisville. No mention of Ohio in it, other than the indirect implications of referring to Louisville's schedule as "Puffs Plus".

LC, how about the offensive line injuries (Powell and Lechner).  I am sick of the rash of injuries that seem to plague us year after year.  I think this needs to be researched to see if Ohio is in line with other Div. I programs.  I seem to remember that you or someone else did some research on this last year maybe.

Injuries do happen in football. Most keep a player out for a week or two, but usually they don't end the season. The injuries to Lechner and Powell seem to be injuries of a common type, ankle sprains. When you have all those big bodies banging around in all that traffic, ankle injures are going to happen, unfortunately. Neither injury is supposed to be overly serious, and both of them may be available by Louisville, and if not for Louisville, they should make the game the next week. Wyatt's injury is worse, and if he isn't redshirted, he will still miss at least a few weeks.

The injury rate this year seems pretty normal. There weren't any serious injuries that I recall from Spring football. Fall camp has had the two TE injuries, plus a lot of typical injuries that take a player out of action for anywhere from a day or two to a couple weeks. There is only one more scrimmage left, I think, and we may see another injury or two before we're done, but hopefully no more season ending ones.

What made last year unusual was not so much the number of injuries, it was that so many of them were season-ending. I've never seen anything like that before, ever. Normally you may see a few season ending ones, but double digits? Never.

Only one new injury today. Following current trends, naturally it's a tight end. Casey Sayles is out with a quad/groin injury, per Arkley, but it isn't believed to be serious.

Someone rolled into his ankle, and sprained it. It isn't expected to be serious, long term. He may or may not be available against Louisville.

Tickets showed up yesterday.  We are in section 101.  How many sections will Ohio have?

My seats are in 202. From pictures I have seen from past games at Louisville, this seating chart seems accurate with regards to where away fans are in the stadium...

Seats -- Section 101.  Looks to be pretty bad seats, but what do you expect.

Lodging -- Son-in-law's father's house in suburban L'ville; comes complete with guest bedroom, free breakfast, man-cave with huge TV to watch all the Sports Center recaps of Ohio's victory, lots of beer in the refrigerator, and excellent chauffeur service to and from game, with preferred parking.  (No BTC, it's not a shuttle bus, but it is a wife-approved conveyance)  I believe I mentioned in a previous post that my son-in-law's father is a UL grad with lots of points in their equivalent of the OBC.  He's had season tickets to women's basketball for years and gives back in other ways each year.  He'll be sitting with us in the OHIO section.  Borna and a few others may remember meeting him at the UL basketball game a few years ago.

I think that pink section is the 2nd deck of the visitor side and was an expansion added within the last 10 years. I think the box seating on the home side may have been added then also?

I've never been in the stadium but it looks nice from the outside. It reminds me more of a NFL stadium to me than a big college football stadium.
