Ohio, Miami, Western Michigan, Toledo, Kent State and Bowling Green have been in the MAC together  for 60+ years. They might not all be super stars but you don't throw away 60 years of tradition to join a conference with FIU, FAU, and UAB.

You know the only fans who used plane crash smack was....Central Florida and WVU. The two trashiest fan bases I have ever encountered.

Good thing I know better than to think that Ohio fans are like that guy who posted that, hope he feels ashamed in his grandmothers basement about posting that....

I am pretty sure he's not posting from the grandmother's basement, but less sure about whether he is posting from his granddaughter's house. I'm not sure what he had in mind posting that, but he was already a senior citizen a decade ago, so I doubt he knows what smack is. I'd rather guess he was just trying to remind us of something he remembers from years ago, in case we've forgotten, as if anyone will ever forget that. I'd say, give him the benefit of the doubt, given that his post doesn't include anything negative, but rather just a reminder.

Playing in CUSA may have marginally better opponents than the MAC (less EMUs, Akrons, and other bottom dweller teams), but I think as of right now the athletic department has decided to keep our traditional games and rivals over the prospect of having better TV deals and bowl revenue.

I do see the appeal in being a part of the CUSA over the MAC, don't get me wrong.  I just think that (as of right now) most of the Ohio fan base would rather kind of stay where we are.  If we continue to be a good team past Solich and continue to gather more fan support and donors, maybe one day we'll jump to another conference.  But that won't be anytime soon.

Best and most logical reply on the subject I have ever seen. Kudos.

I would hate being in conference USA. I would like to see a conference with most of the MAC schools, Cincy, Marshall, and perhaps the military schools Army, Navy etc.. That would be fun.

I would like to see Ohio in C-USA if the money stays the same. You need money to advance the program, but is C-USA going to keep their TV money after the fallout of all the schools that are leaving?

Good luck to you fellas this Saturday, however most Herd fans feel a confidence going into this game - - want this one to be an annual home/home maybe even throw in a neutral site every now and then.

That may have been posted to remind us of the tragedy, not as smack talk.

We have addressed the issue of whether CUSA would be a good conference for Ohio many times on this board.

Number one, I think most of our fans would LOVE to be in the same conference with Marshall.  BUT, with the current configuration of CUSA, I think it has become less attractive to Ohio than CUSA used to be.  Like Kyle posted, a move to CUSA would provide marginally better competition in football and likely a somewhat stronger basketball conference...and probably more revenue overall...but you have to weigh the gains out vs. what would be lost by leaving the MAC and our traditions there.  The OLD CUSA membership would have been very attractive for Ohio, but as far as I know, CUSA never showed any real interest in Ohio.  Now that the CUSA membership has changed so drastically, the advantages of a move to CUSA have decreased.

Another big factor is travel.  Much easier to travel to conference away games and conference post season tournaments in the MAC.

Having said that, it would be very cool to have Ohio and Marshall in the same conference.  I just don't see how it would happen.
