OK, I added Landon Smith.
While it looks like a lot of numbers, only a few positions are affected:
TE - lost Davon Henry and John Tanner, which means that Troy Mangen gave up his redshirt, and Mason Morgan may as well. Since this is down at 3d string, it should have little impact.
WR - Wyatt probably would have redshirted anyway, and losing Landon hurts, but you still have Watters, Reid, Foster, Sebastian Smith, Dovell, Cochran and Dixon.
WLB - Schany would probably have been number 3 on the depth chart, and obviously Moore was the starter, and losing him hurts a lot. That leaves you with Jovon Johnson. I have no idea who his backup will be. Hopefully Moore will be back in another week or so, and hopefully Schany will be game ready at some point this season.
but, then there is....
LG/C/RG - This is the biggest problem, by far. You start by losing Skyler Allen, J.D. Bales, Vince Carlotta, and Eric Herman to graduation. Then, in scrimmages you lose Powell and Smith, and in the first game you lose Lechner and Johnson, and now you are out of proven Centers/Guards. Mike Lucas has played some, and he can play either Center or Right Guard, but not both. So, who plays the other two spots? Others in the mix:
LG - Seth Everhart - former walkon, Redshirt Sophomore (10 snaps last year)
C - Bubba Williams - walkon redshirt Junior (0 snaps), Jacob Welter red shirt Sophmore (0 snaps)
RG - Nic Gibbons - redshirt Freshman (0 snaps)
Doc suggested that Mike McQueen might play LG instead of his normal LT backup spot, which is possible. I suspect that Lighner will find some guys that will do OK, but I hope they mature in a hurry. Louisville stacked the outside, and dared Ohio to take it up the middle. With the starting interior linemen gone, Ohio wasn't able to do that with much success. NT won't have as good a front seven as Louisville had, so hopefully it will go a little better this week.
